Daily Zohar # 3642 – Naso – The sword of the angel of death

Zohar Naso
#118
There are three drops on the sword of the angel of death, and when the person sees them, his whole body and soul are shaken. His heart is restless because the heart is the king of the whole body. His soul goes through all body organs and disconnects from them, as one says goodbye to his friends when they leave them. Then the person says, woe to me for what I have done. His regret won’t help him after he dies unless he did repentance, Teshuva before death.
#119
The person wants to hide from the angel of death but can’t. After realizing that, he opens wide eyes and submits himself to the angel. At the same time, the person is judged in the great judgment in this world. The soul travels to all body parts to disconnect itself forever. Then all body organs tremble.
#120
When the soul arrives at each body part, sweat comes out of this part, and it dies as the soul leaves it. The same happens with all body parts.
Lesson;
Most people die with open mouths and eyes. The mouth is opened to receive the bitter drop of death from the sword of the angel of death. That is the root of the saying “Taste of death” about people who almost died but came back to life.
The Zohar explained above the process of the body ‘shuts down’ before death. This is the act of Hashem’s mercy to give the dying person a short time to repent before dying. In such state, it would be better for a person that needs repentance to say the words “חָטָאתִי עָוִיתִי פָּשַׁעְתִּי”
“chatati aviti pashati” ( Check the DZ glossary for ‘Teshuva’)
Followed by the Shema Israel that unifies the soul with YHVH.
