Hebrew translation:

155. בֹּא רְאֵה, כָּתוּב בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי עֲצֶרֶת. מִי הָעֲצֶרֶת? אֶלָּא בְּאוֹתוֹ מָקוֹם שֶׁהַכֹּל נִקְשָׁרִים כְּאֶחָד נִקְרָא עֲצֶרֶת. מַה זֶּה עֲצֶרֶת? (כְּנוּפְיָה) הִתְכַּנְּסוּת. וְאִם תֹּאמַר, כָּאן שֶׁנִּקְרָא עֲצֶרֶת מָה הַטַּעַם? אֶלָּא בְּכָל אוֹתָם יָמִים, יְמֵי הַסְּעוּדוֹת שֶׁל עַנְפֵי הָאִילָן הָיוּ. וְעַל כֵּן שִׁבְעִים פָּרִים הֵם. אַחַר כָּךְ שִׂמְחַת (הַגּוּף) הָאִילָן מַמָּשׁ וְשִׂמְחַת הַתּוֹרָה. וּבִגְלָלוֹ הוּא יוֹם אֶחָד עֲצֶרֶת. שִׂמְחַת הַתּוֹרָה, שִׂמְחַת הָאִילָן, שֶׁהוּא הַגּוּף.
156. וְעַל כֵּן אֵין חֵלֶק בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה אֶלָּא לַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא עִם כְּנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל. מִשּׁוּם כָּךְ עֲצֶרֶת תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם, לָכֶם וְלֹא לְאַחֵר. (אַחַר כָּךְ שִׂמְחַת הָאִילָן מַמָּשׁ, וּבִגְלָלוֹ הוּא יוֹם אֶחָד, וְאֵין חֵלֶק בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה אֶלָּא לַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא וּכְנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְלָכֵן כָּתוּב עֲצֶרֶת תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם. אַף כָּאן בַּיּוֹם הַזֶּה שִׂמְחַת הַתּוֹרָה, שִׂמְחַת הָאִילָן, שֶׁהוּא גוּף, וְהַכֹּל נִמְצָא בוֹ) שֶׁהֲרֵי בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁהַמֶּלֶךְ נִמְצָא, הַכֹּל נִמְצָא בּוֹ. וְעַל כֵּן שָׁנִינוּ, בַּעֲצֶרֶת עַל פֵּרוֹת הָאִילָן, וַהֲרֵי פֵּרְשׁוּהָ, מִשּׁוּם כָּךְ נִקְרָא אֶחָד, אֶחָד וַדַּאי, כְּמוֹ שֶׁאָמַרְנוּ.

Numbers 29:35
“בַּיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי עֲצֶרֶת תִּהְיֶה לָכֶם כָּל מְלֶאכֶת עֲבֹדָה לֹא תַעֲשׂוּ.”
“‘On the eighth day, you shall have a sacred assembly. You shall do no customary work.”
The Zohar asks, what is the day of assembly? And answers, where all come together is, called days of assembly. This place is Malchut which receives from all the upper sefirot.
During the seven days of Sukkot, we sacrifice 70 bulls that nourish the 70 nations. They are considered the branches of the Tree, which is Zeir Anpin. On the eighth day that is the day of ‘עֲצֶרֶת,’ assembly, the body of the Tree, Zeir Anpin is in a high level of joy because this day is ‘Simchat Torah,’ “The joy of Torah.”
