Daily Zohar 4048

“He casts out His hail like morsels; Who can stand before His cold (קָרָתוֹ)?”
Balaam was confident that his gift would give him an opening to go against Israel. Rabbi Aba says that “his cold” “קָרָתוֹ” and “וַיִּקָּר” are related. In addition to the side of impurity that comes from Balaam, God made Balaam’s gift ‘cold,’ meaning without spiritual influence.
#458
Rabbi Elazar said “וַיִּקָּר” means that Balaam thought that with that gift, he could harm Israel, and the Holy One Blessed be He uprooted that gift from before him. And uprooted Balaam from what he thought. He uprooted him from that level. This is what is said,
Proverbs 30:17
“The eye that mocks his father, And scorns obedience to his mother, The ravens of the valley will pick it out (יִקְּרוּהָ), And the young eagles will eat it.”
Balaam was rejected from connecting to Hashem, and his gift was given to animals.
