For this reason, Jacob did not see Leah at the well. He saw Rachel, so his eyes and heart would follow Rachel’s beauty, and he would settle his dwelling there. Also, Leah would also be married to him to bring the future tribes. He asks how Jacob knew who Rachel was when he didn’t see her before. He answers that the shepherds told him, as it is written;
Genesis 29:6
“So he said to them, “Is he well?” And they said, “He is well. And look, his daughter Rachel is coming with the sheep.”
#128
Genesis 29:18
“Now Jacob loved Rachel, so he said, “I will serve you seven years for Rachel, your younger daughter.”
He asks what was in Jacob’s mind, that he did not say ten months or one year, but seven years. Why? And he replies, rather, Jacob did it wisely so that the people would not think that he did it because of the desire for Rachel’s beauty. Jacob did it so because the moon, that is, the Nukva of Zeir Anpin, is the aspect of seven years. She should be built from seven sefirot of Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod, and Malchut.
Jacob was already connected to the seven sefirot of Binah, and he wanted to marry Rachel to make a strong connection between the seven sefirot of Binah and the seven sefirot of Malchut. Jacob as Zeir Anpin, the heavens, and Rachel, the aspect of the Nukva of Zeir Anpin, earth.
Friday would be a good day to make a ** Donation, and support the Daily Zohar projects, especially if you didn’t donate in the past week. Giving on Friday, which is an aspect of Yessod, expands the vessel for the Light and honor of Shabbat.
** Your donation doesn’t have to be given to the same place every week. You can alternate or split your donation among those who benefit you spiritually.
