The secret is that all the ten plagues that the Holy One, Blessed be He, brought upon Egypt were from the “הַיָּד הַחֲזָקָה” “The strong hand,” which is Gevurah. This strong hand prevailed over all the levels that ruled over them to confuse their minds. They were unable to discern what to do to save themselves. When they attempted to do something, it appeared to all that they could not do anything to protect themselves from the plagues because of the strong hand of Hashem that prevailed over them.

Rabbi Shimon opened the discussion by saying,
Jeremiah 31:14
“כֹּה אָמַר יְהוָה קוֹל בְּרָמָה נִשְׁמָע נְהִי בְּכִי תַמְרוּרִים רָחֵל מְבַכָּה עַל בָּנֶיהָ מֵאֲנָה לְהִנָּחֵם עַל בָּנֶיהָ כִּי אֵינֶנּוּ.”
“Thus says YHVH: “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children Because they are no more.”
This verse is explained in several places. It is a difficult scripture, as it says, “Rachel weeping for her children.” Were not Rachel’s children only Joseph and Benjamin and no more? Leah was the mother of six tribes, so why did Rachel weep and not Leah?
