“וְאַתָּה תֶחֱזֶה מִכָּל הָעָם אַנְשֵׁי חַיִל יִרְאֵי אֱלֹהִים אַנְשֵׁי אֱמֶת שֹׂנְאֵי בָצַע וְשַׂמְתָּ עֲלֵהֶם שָׂרֵי אֲלָפִים שָׂרֵי מֵאוֹת שָׂרֵי חֲמִשִּׁים וְשָׂרֵי עֲשָׂרֹת.” “Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” (Exodus 18:21)
We learned that Moses had difficulty with this matter (face reading) until the Shechinah came and taught him. The Shechinah perceived and discerned all these men by their faces, recognizing and selecting them accordingly. It was there that Moses learned this wisdom, and it was instilled within him.
Thus, it is written: “וְאַתָּה תֶּחֱזֶה”—”And you shall see” (Exodus 18:21). The word “וְאַתָּה” (“And you”) appears in various verses:
“וְאַתָּה הוּא וּשְׁנוֹתֶיךָ לֹא יִתָּמוּ”—”But You remain the same, and Your years never end” (Psalms 102:28). “וְאַתָּה מְחַיֶּה אֶת כֻּלָּם”—”And You sustain them all” (Nehemiah 9:6). “וְאַתָּה ה’ מָגֵן בַּעֲדִי”—”But You, Hashem, are a shield for me” (Psalms 3:4).
In all these verses, the word “וְאַתָּה” (“And You”) refers to the Shechinah. Thus, in this case as well, when the verse states “וְאַתָּה תֶּחֱזֶה”—”And you shall see,” its meaning is that the Shechinah enabled Moses to see and discern properly.

“וְאַתָּה” (“And You”), referring to the Shechinah, shall behold and perceive this matter. You, and no other, shall discern and recognize among the 600,000 (Soul roots of the Israelites).
There are six aspects in which one can observe human forms and attain wisdom through clear discernment.
These six aspects are: Hair (שֵׂעָר), Eyes (עֵינַיִם), Nose (חוֹטֵם), Lips (שְׂפָתַיִם), Face (פָּנִים), Hands (יָדַיִם)—specifically, the lines of the hands. And about these six aspects, it is written: “וְאַתָּה תֶּחֱזֶה”—”And you shall see” (Exodus 18:21).

Notes:
Human features carry deep spiritual significance—a person’s inner nature is reflected in their outer form.
Through supernal assistance, Moses was able to see beyond the physical and understand each individual’s essence.
This teaches us that true leadership and discernment require higher wisdom—one must not judge superficially but seek a more profound vision, connecting to spiritual insight to recognize truth.
