Daily Zohar # 5022 – Vayeshev – In the morning sow your seed, but don’t waste them
Daily Zohar 5022

#181
Rabbi Chiya opened: “בַּבֹּקֶר זְרַע אֶת זַרְעֲךָ וְלָעֶרֶב אַל תַּנַּח יָדֶךָ”, “In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand” (Ecclesiastes 11:6).
Come and see: How much a person must be careful with his sins and careful in his deeds before the Holy One, blessed be He. For how many emissaries and how many appointees (ממונים) are in the world, who go and roam and see the deeds of people, and testify about them. And everything is written in a book.
Notes:
The quote above urges persistent “sowing” of good deeds morning and evening, reflecting the Kabbalistic principle that every action affects the flow of divine light and rectification.
#182
Come and see: Among all the sins in which a person becomes defiled in this world, this sin is the one in which a person becomes most defiled in this world and in the world to come: one who wastes his seed in vain and emits his seed in vain with his hand or foot, and becomes defiled by it. As it is said: “כִּי לֹא אֵל חָפֵץ רֶשַׁע אַתָּה לֹא יְגֻרְךָ רָע”, “For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; evil may not sojourn with You” (Psalms 5:5).
Notes:
This Zohar warns that wasting seed is the gravest defilement, affecting both worlds. It severs the soul’s connection to divine abundance, preventing rectification.
The sefira of Yessod is the channel through which divine abundance and life-force flow into the world. It is the bridge between the upper spiritual realms and Malchut, the place where holiness becomes manifest. When a person misuses the creative power of Yessod — particularly through the spilling of seed in vain (hotza’at zera levatalah), he disrupts this channel and causes spiritual blockage. The Zohar teaches that the seed contains sparks of life (nitzotzei chayim), and wasting them creates forces of impurity that feed off the lost potential. This weakens the purity of Yessod and causes both spiritual and emotional harm, because the covenant (ברית) is meant to be a vessel of holiness, blessing, and creation.
The covenant of Yessod is not merely physical but a spiritual pipeline, designed to unify giving and receiving, masculine and feminine, spiritual and material. When this energy is misdirected, it damages the pattern of flow above and below, creating separation instead of union. Guarding the covenant preserves one’s inner light, strengthens clarity of mind, vitality of the soul, and emotional stability. It also aligns a person with the original intention of creatio, to bring life, blessing, and divine presence into the world. Therefore, purity in Yessod strengthens the entire spiritual structure, while corruption of this channel diminishes the flow of holiness both to the individual and to the world.
