For this reason, he does not enter the chamber of the Holy One, blessed be He, and does not see the face of the Ancient of Days (Atik Yomin, עתיק יומין). As we have learned, it is written here: “לֹא יְגֻרְךָ רָע”, “evil will not dwell with you” (Psalms 5:5). And it is written: “וַיְהִי עֵר בְּכֹר יְהוּדָה רַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה”, “And Er, the firstborn of Judah, was evil in the eyes of YHVH” (Genesis 38:7), whose meaning is that he does not see the face of YHVH. So too here, he does not see the face of YHVH. And therefore it is written: “יָדֵיכֶם דָּמִים מָלְאוּ”, “Your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:15). The meaning is: for one who wastes his seed in vain with his hand, for he is like one who sheds blood (שופך דמים). Happy is the portion of a person who fears YHVH and guards himself from the evil way, and purifies himself to engage in the fear (awe) of his Master.

Come and see: “בַּבֹּקֶר זְרַע אֶת זַרְעֲךָ”, “In the morning sow your seed” (Ecclesiastes 11:6). This verse has been explained: “בַּבֹּקֶר”, “In the morning” — this is the time when a person is in his strength and in the days of his youth. He should then strive to have children with a worthy wife, as it is written: “בַּבֹּקֶר זְרַע אֶת זַרְעֲךָ”, “In the morning sow your seed.”
Notes:
“Morning” symbolizes the prime of life, urging procreation with a worthy partner to ensure the soul’s rectification and divine legacy.
