Daily Zohar # 2070 – Pekudei – Test him before he tests you

Zohar Pekudei
1 Kings 17:8,9
“Then the word of YHVH came to him, saying,
Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and stay there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”
God said these words to Elijah the Prophet. The Zohar asks when did God command the widow to provide for his prophet and answers that before he came to the world, God decreed on the upper levels that the crows will bring Elijah food and also a specific woman to provide for him.
1 Kings 17:10-16
10: So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Bring me a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.”
11: As she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a piece of bread in your hand.”
12: And she said, “As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. And now I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it and die.”
13: Then Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go, do as you have said, but make me a little bread cake from it first and bring it out to me, and afterward you may make one for yourself and for your son.
14: For thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, ‘The jar of flour shall not be spent, and the jug of oil shall not be empty, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’”
15: So she went and did according to the word of Elijah, and she and he and her household ate for many days.
16:The bowl of flour was not exhausted nor did the jar of oil become empty, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke through Elijah.
Elijah asks the woman for water and she was about to bring it for him but then he ‘changed’ his mind and asked her for a piece of bread. The woman told the prophet that all she has was little bites for her and her son and that wouldn’t be enough even to sustain them. The woman was ‘counting’ the little that she had and that limit showed her only death. Elijah then asked her to prepare a cake for him and only after giving him she would take for herself. From a limited point of view we may see Elijah as selfish, who takes first for himself but there is a big secret here to reveal.
The woman was given the opportunity to trust God through his messenger and she did. Because of that Elijah could channel the Light of sustenance to that woman so she could provide for him.
Elijah is a messenger of God and can not make himself busy with the materials of this world. His job is to deliver the Light and blessings of God to people.
Spiritual people who see themselves as channels of the word of God don’t do business and profit out of their spiritual work.
Main lesson is to stop counting or think with limitations. The blessings comes from the Light and through his messengers.
Most people worry about the continuous flow of their income. My best advice is to study Zohar Daily and share your full tithe with the channels of Light that benefit you. As I suggested previously, break your tithe into smaller amounts and give every week. God promised to open channels of sustenance to those who gave tithe to the Light.
Malachi 3:10
“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, saysYHVH of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.”
The ‘storehouse’ is the Holy Temple. Since the Holy Temple is no longer with us our tithe should go to those who connect and reveal Light in our lives and the world.
