Zohar Shemot
Exodus 1:22
“Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you are to cast into the Nile, and every daughter you are to keep alive.”
Pharaoh’s decree to kill the boys didn’t stop the Israelites from continuing to deliver their children in purity. The Zohar reveals that the Israelites’ women kept the laws of purity in their unification with their husbands before the Exodus and after and for that they merited to go out of the exile in Egypt.
Exodus 38:8
“He made the basin of bronze and its stand of bronze, from the mirrors of the serving women who served at the doorway of the tent of meeting.”
Women were not allowed to enter the Holy Tabernacle because they may carry the aspect of death during their monthly cycle. They donated the mirrors in the Holy Tabernacle that allowed them to see the work of the priests inside the tent without going in. The eye connection with the sacrifices and other services cleansed all impurities from them and they could be pure and attract their husband for elevated unification to bring higher level souls.
The women’s monthly cycle started immediately after the first sin when Adam and Eve brought mortality to the world. The immortal state became left them and the woman had to create a connection to life inside her ovaries. If this potential life/vessel is not met with a male seed/light to form new life then the vessel breaks and leave the living body. This is the aspect of the original judgment and death from the first sin (Genesis 3:16,17).
A unification of a man and a woman represents a unification of light and vessel. If the vessel is not pure then even if the light is pure then the outcome is not positive, even if it is not for having children. This subject is too big to cover in few paragraphs but just remember that purity is very important for the life of the marriage. When a couple separate themselves from all aspects of death then they have a beautiful and blessed life together.
After the period stopped, a woman counts seven days or purity to make sure she doesn’t see any of the aspect of death. This rule guarantees that the woman’s vessel goes through at least one Shabbat with the light of Binah. On the evening of the seventh day the woman goes into a Mikveh that cleanses all spiritual impurities. The woman should avoid looking at anything negative, ugly or disturbing for any reason to have clear and pure consciousness at the time of the unification.
