Zohar Shelach Lecha
#86
When the Holy One Blessed be He created the world, he made the ocean surrounding the land and the nations of the world. The seventy nations surround Jerusalem that is in the middle of the Holy Land and the middle of the world. Jerusalem surrounds the Temple Mount that surrounds the Holy Temple and its official chambers and courts that are positioned according to their importance. They surround the Hall of Hewn Stones, called ‘Lishkat HaGazit’. It was the hall of the Sanhedrin (72 rabbis that acted as a supreme court). There was also a special balcony for the kings from the Line of King David.

Exodus 15:17
“”You will bring them and plant them in the mountain of Your inheritance, The place, O LORD, which You have made for Your dwelling, The sanctuary, O YHVH, which Your hands have established.”
Lishkat HaGazit surrounds the Altar, the Altar surrounds the main hall of the Temple and that hall surrounds the Holy of Holies where the Ark, the Cherubim and the Shechinah are present.
The Holy of Holies is the heart of the entire world. All places and people are like body parts that receive nourishment from the source, Malchut of Atzilut, which is the head and the center of this world.
Lesson;
The Zohar uses the word ‘surrounds’ to describe the levels of energy, Sefirot, that reach the top/center. It is considered the heart because it’s the source of nutrition for the whole world.
2 Chronicles 6:34
“”When Your people go out to battle against their enemies, by whatever way You shall send them, and they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the house which I have built for Your name,”
King Solomon said these words in the presence of the nation after he completed the building of the Holy Temple. I (suggest reading the entire chapter, 2 Chronicles 6 https://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt25b06.htm)
When we go out to war against our enemies, which are the forces of the negative side, judgments, we connect to the heart that is in the city, which is Jerusalem and the Holy Temple.
The verse above was a connection to get support at times of ‘war’ and when we lose a ‘battle’ and make sins, we connect to the ‘heart’ for cleansing.
2 Chronicles 6:26
“”When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because they have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and confess Your name, and turn from their sin when You afflict them;”
Our prayers designed in a way that ‘climb’ from the lower/outer level to the higher level, silent prayer in standing, Amida that is at the level of Atzilut. While during the climb we can face any direction, when arriving at Atzilut, we stand and face the east, the direction of Jerusalem. We pray in silence and let our hearts make the connection through the words of the prayer without sound.
Even when we are not using the prayer book and wish to ‘talk’ heart to heart to God, we meditate to be in Jerusalem at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem as the verse says ‘they pray toward this place and confess Your name (YHVH).
