.

Zohar Vayera

Short recap from the previous studies of Vayera
#80
Rabbi Aba shares that one day he came across a city of people with ancient wisdom. The people told him about their wisdom, showed him their books of wisdom and gave him one book.
In this book, he read that the thoughts of a person draw the force that matches his consciousness. If a person seeks holiness, he will draw holy light from above down to his level.
If a person wishes to connect to the other-side (Sitra-Achra) and meditated on it, he will draw negative forces. The book says that this process depends on the words, actions and desire to connect to that side.
The book also reveals different actions and all that is needed to follow for idol-worshipping. Also how to meditate on one’s desires in order to draw the related energy down.
#88
Rabbi Aba tells these people that the wisdom in their book is close to what is written in the Torah, but they need to stay away from it because the type of worship is far from the ways of the Holy One Blessed be He.
#89
All of these books confuse and mislead people because the people from older generations inherited the wisdom from the children of Abraham’s concubines and from them it spread to different directions in the world in incomplete forms. We read in Genesis 25:6
“but to the sons of his concubines, Abraham gave gifts while he was still living, and sent them away from his son Isaac eastward, to the land of the east.”
#90
The ‘gifts’ Abraham gave to the children of the concubines were limited truth of the spiritual system but to Isaac he gave everything, meaning that Isaac received the entire knowledge of the spiritual system.
Jacob came from the holy side of complete faith and knowledge like Abraham and Isaac. Jacob had a close connection to YHVH; after Jacob woke up from his dream we read (Genesis 28:13) “And, behold, YHVH stood beside him” and in Isaiah 41:8 “וְאַתָּה יִשְׂרָאֵל עַבְדִּי יַעֲקֹב אֲשֶׁר בְּחַרְתִּיךָ זֶרַע אַבְרָהָם אֹהֲבִי.”
“But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, Descendant of Abraham My friend,”
For these reasons, we need to follow the path of the Holy One Blessed be He and cling to him as it says Deuteronomy 10:20
“You shall fear YHVH your God; you shall serve Him and cling to Him, and you shall swear by His name.”
Lesson;
In ancient times, the wisdom was about the spiritual system and how to connect, draw and harness different forces from above to benefit the people below. Some used these forces for evil and few used it for good purposes. The Torah tells us the story of the Tower of Babel. The people of that generation wanted to have greater control over the spiritual system and built a ‘Tower’ for that. God ‘mixed’ their language, which is the aspect of taking away the power of the holy language from them. The ability to communicate with angels/spiritual forces became limited to people on high spiritual levels of negative or positive. For example Moses on the good side and Balaam on the negative side.
The only existing power of words to connect to the pure system was left in the Torah that conceals many names of angels and spiritual forces.
Many people with a lack of spiritual knowledge or ability to pray and connect wish to have ‘shortcuts’ for using angels to ‘fix’ something in their lives. For that reason many look into ‘techniques’ from books that are full of false and incorrect information. Nowadays, almost every person can use a simple PC to produce a well-formatted book ready for a quick print.
Frequently, I receive emails with requests for ‘shortcuts’ to have access to spiritual forces. They ask for ‘names’ of angels also about ‘What Zohar section is good for….’.
Looking for names or shortcuts is bad teaching to follow. The rate of success is the same as the Placebo. It helps only those who would be helped even without the ‘placebo’. In many and most cases shortcuts may draw judgments instead of relief.
Do not trust books or websites that suggest names or recipes draw angels or spiritual forces for self benefits. It is easier to summon dark forces using black magic and different types of rituals because negative forces are closer to this world than the pure forces. Don’t get tempted!
One of the risks of using books for ‘magic’ is of losing faith. If one learns from a book few ‘tricks’ that benefit his health, sustenance and other ‘fixes’, he will get to a point of losing faith in God.
King Solomon knew all the wisdom of the world. The Talmud tells us that King Solomon wrote a book, revealing many secrets about healing any disease, writing amulets for protection, Astrology and more.
People relied on this book and that weakened their prayer and connection to God. King Chizkiyahu was righteous and decided to conceal this book so the people could go back to the proper prayers and draw light to the world beyond the personal benefits of using the book of King Solomon.
The best way to draw the light of fulfillment is to study Torah from the first word to the last. Follow services with Torah reading on Shabbat. Study Zohar in sequence as we do on the Daily Zohar. Study more on Shabbat and you would open channels of light and blessings that you need in your life.
