Zohar Emor

#119
Rabbi Elazar asks what to do with the third meal of Shabbat when a holiday comes immediately after Shabbat. The holiday meal should be special and eaten with an appetite to honor the King and receive from him. The question is if to skip the third meal of Shabbat.

#120
Rabbi Shimon answers his son’s questions and says that they don’t cancel the third meal. The holiday becomes the guest of Shabbat.

#121
The Zohar tells us that talk is forbidden on Shabbat because the talks we have on Shabbat should not be like on the weekdays.
On Shabbat, we are elevated to the level above the realms of this world and whatever we do in the world of action, including mundane words, ‘ground’ us away from the King.

#122
Rabbi Elazar continues and asks if to keep the third meal when the night of Passover comes after Shabbat. Only in this case when we can not eat bread or Matzah before the night we skip the third meal.

Lesson;
We learn that the third meal of Shabbat is very important to keep even if a holiday starts after Shabbat and we need to make a holiday meal. The only time that we can skip the third meal is when Passover starts immediately after Shabbat.
The afternoon of Shabbat is on a very high spiritual level and it would be wise to take extra efforts to connect with Zohar studies and a third meal with Birkat Hamazon.
