Daily Zohar # 4307 – Shelach Lecha – His labor shall return upon his own head
Daily Zohar 4307

#282
He tells Rabbi Shimon that if you say that the angel of death is happy when he kills people, the answer is No. But because he follows the will of his Master, then he shows himself with joy when doing the will of the Holy One, Blessed be He. It is written;
Psalm 148:8
“Fire and hail, snow and clouds; Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;”
Rabbi Shimon told him, but he is walking and dancing happily in front of the women. He told him, Ah, a holy devotee, of course, he is, to show before the King that he is pleased with his will. But he is glad with the women’s eulogy and dances while listening to the eulogy.
#283
He asks him why he goes and brings accusations against the man above and reminds them of their iniquities. Is it because he has no joy in killing a person? He replied to him because he is an old and foolish King (Ecclesiastes 4:13) and thinks to rule over the soul, and all his desire is for this. But in the end, he can rule only over what is his, which is the flesh (#238), and thus it is written;
Psalm 7:17
“His labor shall return upon his own head, And his violent dealing shall come down on his own crown.”
This means that he does not enjoy his efforts, which he incited below and accused above.
