Zohar Acharei Mot
Continued from previous DZ
#144
He opened and said, “Cold water on a weary soul, this is the Torah, for whoever merits to engage in Torah and quenches his soul from it, what is written, ‘good news from a distant land.’ The Holy One, Blessed be He, proclaims many good things to bestow upon him in this world and the next world. This is what ‘good news’ means. From what place is it good? From a distant land, that is, from a place where the Holy One, Blessed be He, was initially distant from him, from a place where He was initially in hate with him as it is written.
Job 20:27
“The heavens will reveal his iniquity, And the earth will rise up against him.”
From this place, they hasten peace to him. This is what ‘from a distant land’ means. And it is written;
Jeremiah 31:2
“From far, YHVH has appeared to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.”
(The end of this Zohar text is missing).

Psalm 50:1
“A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, Has spoken and called the earth From the sun’s rising to its going down.”
Rabbi Yehuda quoted this verse and said, we have learned that when the day shines, fifteen million five hundred thousand singers sing praises to the Holy One, Blessed be He. And one thousand five hundred and forty-eight when the moon shines, that is, at night. 15,900,000 sing praise when the sun starts descending in the west.
