Rabbi Yessa asked and said: It is written “וַיַּרְא יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת מִצְרַיִם מֵת”— “And Israel saw the Egyptians dead” (Exodus 14:30), and it is written “לֹא תֹסִפוּ לִרְאֹתָם עוֹד עַד עוֹלָם”— “You shall not see them again forever” (Exodus 14:13). 
Rabbi Yossi said: They saw them dead. He said to him: If it had been written ‘You shall not see them alive again,’ I would say so. Rabbi Abba said to him: You have asked well.
Notes:
Rabbi Yossi suggests the Israelites saw the dead Egyptians. The contradiction between seeing the dead Egyptians (וַיַּרְא…מֵת) and never seeing them again (לֹא תֹסִפוּ) prompts the question. Rabbi Abba praises the question, setting up a deeper resolution in subsequent teachings.

Rather, come and see. It is written: “מִן הָעוֹלָם וְעַד הָעוֹלָם”— “From the world to the world” (Psalms 106:48). And we have learned: world above, world below.
The world above — from there is the beginning to light the lamps(candles), which is Binah, the root of all Mochin, called lamps(candles).
The world below — there is the end: Malchut, which concludes all the sefirot and includes them all. And from this lower world, the Gevurot are aroused for the lower levels.
Notes:
The lower world (Malchut) is the conclusion, encompassing all sefirot, from which Gevurot (judgments) are aroused to the lower realms.
