#202
“וּתְקוּפָתוֹ עַל-קְצוֹתָם” “And his circuit” — its meaning is that he encircles all the holy sides that are fitting to be illuminated, irrigated, and to sparkle from him. “וְאֵין נִסְתָּר, מֵחַמָּתוֹ” “And there is nothing hidden” — its meaning is that there is no one who can be concealed from this light, for it illuminates everyone in one generality, to each and every one as is fitting for him.
Notes:
The Zohar interprets “וּתְקוּפָתוֹ” (“his circuit”) and “וְאֵין נִסְתָּר מֵחַמָּתוֹ” (“and there is nothing hidden from his heat”) in Psalms 19:7 as Zeir Anpin (the sun) encircling and bestowing light to all holy aspects (sefirot/sides) deserving illumination and flow on Shabbat day. His light reaches universally yet individually — nothing and no one is hidden from it, as it shines inclusively to each according to their capacity, completing the revelation and sustenance of Malchut and all below without exception.
#203
And when all are completed and illuminated from within the sun, then the moon — which is Malchut — is crowned, like Ima Ila’ah (אמא עלאה, the supernal Mother), becoming complete with fifty gates as she is. And this is what is written: “תּוֹרַת יְהוָה תְּמִימָה” “The Torah of YHVH is perfect” (Psalms 19:8), for then she is perfect from all sides in the secret of the five levels — Chessed- Gevurah- Tiferet- Netzach- Hod — like Ima Ila’ah. For these five are the secret of the fifty gates of Binah, since each one is included of ten.
Notes:
The Zohar describes the culmination on Shabbat day. Once Zeir Anpin (“the sun”) fully receives and integrates the supernal lights, Malchut (“the moon”) becomes crowned and perfected like Binah (Ima Ila’ah), attaining the fifty gates of Binah through her five lower sefirot (חג” ת נ” ה). Each of these five contains ten sub-levels (5 × 10 = 50), mirroring Binah’s gates of understanding. This perfects Malchut “from all sides,” making her “תְּמִימָה” (perfect/complete), as in “תּוֹרַת יְהוָה תְּמִימָה” — revealing her as the vessel of full divine Torah and revelation on Shabbat.
#204
And because of this, it comes in verses of five words each, in order to complete the secret of fifty:
“תּוֹרַת יְהוָה תְּמִימָה מְשִׁיבַת נָפֶשׁ” “The Torah of YHVH is perfect, restoring the soul” (Psalms 19:8) — behold five.
“עֵדוּת יְהוָה נֶאֱמָנָה מַחְכִּימַת פֶּתִי” “The testimony of YHVH is faithful, making wise the simple” (Psalms 19:8) — behold five.
“פִּקּוּדֵי יְהוָה יְשָׁרִים מְשַׂמְּחֵי־לֵב” “The precepts of YHVH are right, rejoicing the heart” (Psalms 19:9) — behold five.
“מִצְוַת יְהוָה בָּרָה מְאִירַת עֵינָיִם” “The commandment of YHVH is pure, enlightening the eyes” (Psalms 19:9) — behold five.
“יִרְאַת יְהוָה טְהוֹרָה עוֹמֶדֶת לָעַד” “The fear of YHVH is pure, enduring forever” (Psalms 19:10) — behold five.
“מִשְׁפְּטֵי יְהוָה אֱמֶת צָדְקוּ יַחְדָּו” “The judgments of YHVH are true, righteous altogether” (Psalms 19:10) — behold five.
All these names — Torah, testimony, precepts, etc. — are names of Malchut, and they all come in groups of five words each, in order to be included in fifty, like Ima Ila’ah (the supernal Mother).
Notes:
The Zohar explains the structure of Psalms 19:8–10 as six phrases of exactly five words each (totaling thirty words, but symbolically completing the “fifty” through inclusion and multiplicity). These phrases describe Malchut (the moon perfected on Shabbat day) under various names — תּוֹרַת Torah, עֵדוּת testimony, פִּקּוּדֵי precepts, מִצְוַת commandment, יִרְאַת fear, מִשְׁפְּטֵי judgments — each embodying her rectification. The five-word pattern mirrors the five sefirot (חג” ת נ” ה) of Malchut, which contain the secret of Binah’s fifty gates (5 × 10 = 50), making Malchut “perfect” (תְּמִימָה, temimah) like Ima Ila’ah. This reveals how Shabbat elevates Malchut to the level of supernal Binah, fully illuminated and complete.
