Daily Zohar # 5273 – Noach – Where is He who brought them up from the sea
Daily Zohar 5273

#185
And at every time that judgment rests in the world, the Holy Spirit says, Woe that there is no longer found one like Moses, as it is written, “וַיִּזְכֹּר יְמֵי עוֹלָם מֹשֶׁה עַמּוֹ” “And He remembered the days of old, Moses His people” (Isaiah 63:11), “אַיֵּה הַמַּעֲלֵם מִיָּם” “Where is He who brought them up from the sea” (Isaiah 63:11). As it is written, “וַיֹּאמֶר יְהוָה אֶל מֹשֶׁה מַה תִּצְעַק אֵלָי” “And YHVH said to Moses, Why do you cry out to Me?” (Exodus 14:15). For he brought them up from the sea by prayer. And because he placed himself in prayer for Israel at the sea, it is called by his name, “He who brought them up from the sea,” for he brought them up from the sea.
Notes:
When judgment rests on the world, the Holy Spirit laments that there is no one like Moses. By crying out in prayer, he raised Israel from the sea; therefore, the verse calls that act by his name (הַמַּעֲלֵם מִיָּם).
#186
“אַיֵּה הַשָּׂם בְּקִרְבּוֹ אֶת רוּחַ קָדְשׁוֹ” “Where is He who put within him His holy spirit?” (Isaiah 63:11). This is Moses, who caused the Shechinah to rest within Israel. Likewise, “מוֹלִיכָם בַּתְּהֹמוֹת” (“who led them through the depths,” Isaiah 63:13) refers to the waters being split so they could walk through the depths on dry land, because the waters froze. And this is because he gave himself over for Israel, and therefore all this is called by his name.
Notes:
Moses caused the Shechinah to rest within Israel and led them through the frozen depths. Because he gave himself for Israel, these acts are named after him.

Rabbi Yehuda said, Even though Noah was righteous, he was not worthy that the Holy One, blessed be He, should protect the world for his sake. Come and see: Moses did not hang anything on his own merit, but on the merit of the Patriarch. But Noah had no one on whose merit he could hang, as Moses did.
Notes:
Noah was righteous, but not enough for the world to be protected for his sake. Moses did not rely on his own merit, but on the merit of the Fathers. Noah had no such merit to hold to.
