1 Samuel 16:12
“וַיִּשְׁלַח וַיְבִיאֵהוּ וְהוּא אַדְמוֹנִי, עִם-יְפֵה עֵינַיִם וְטוֹב רֹאִי”
The Zohar explains that King David had red hair because he was a chariot for Malchut that is judgment and is represented by the red color. His beautiful eyes represented the aspect of having mercy included in Judgment. The connection of King David to Chassadim (Mercy) is mentioned in Isaiah 55:3.
“הַטּוּ אָזְנְכֶם וּלְכוּ אֵלַי שִׁמְעוּ וּתְחִי נַפְשְׁכֶם וְאֶכְרְתָה לָכֶם בְּרִית עוֹלָם חַסְדֵי דָוִד הַנֶּאֱמָנִים.”
King David’s eyes also reflected the three patriarchs that bring the Light to Malchut.
Abraham – White –Chessed – Right
Isaac – Red (blood vessels) –Gevurah – Left
Jacob – Green –Tiferet – Center
The upper and lower eyelids are for Netzach (Upper) and Hod (Lower).
The eye ball itself is Yessod.
Pupil, the black in the middle of the eye, is Malchut.
Jerusalem and Zion are judgment and mercy. Jerusalem is in the Malchut level, which is judgment. Zion is Yessod of Malchut and connects the upper Jerusalem, that is on the spiritual level, to the lower Jerusalem in the material level. The Zohar reveals that YHVH promised to come to Zion, the upper Jerusalem, when the Israelites enter the lower Jerusalem. This will happen when the kingdom of David is restored with the coming of Mashiach. He will prepare the lower Jerusalem for the coming of YHVH to the upper Jerusalem, flooding the world with eternal Light of peace.
This is the aspect of the ‘Return to Zion’ or in another word ‘Zionism’. You are a ‘Zionist’ if you have in your heart the desire to see God revealing himself in Jerusalem, releasing the great Light to the world.
