Zohar Ki Tisa
He wisdom of the Erev Rav, ‘Mix Multitude’ was great. They could see in the first six hours of the day.
“The people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people assembled about Aaron and said to him, “Come, make us a god who will go before us; as for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.”
The word ‘delayed’ can also be read as ‘with six’. These six hours of the day, the Erev Rav couldn’t have control because Moses was connected to the six Sefirot of Zeir Anpin, the levels that he was about to come down from the mountain.
Immediately after, ‘the people assembled about Aaron’. Why Aaron, the Zohar asks and answer that it was done to connect to the Right, Chessed that Aaron represented. They asked him “Come, make us a god who will go before us” .
The Erev Rav wanted to have access to the side and energy that Moses had access to in order to bring about the Golden Calf.
