Zohar Behaalotcha
#65
Numbers 9:2
“וְיַעֲשׂוּ בְנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל אֶת הַפָּסַח בְּמוֹעֲדוֹ.”
“Now, let the sons of Israel make the Passover at its appointed time.”
The Zohar asks; why the verse use ‘make’ and not ‘celebrate’ and Rabbi Yosei explains that as we learned before, making an action in the lower level awakens a reaction in the spiritual level.
#66
Numbers 9:10
“דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִישׁ אִישׁ כִּי יִהְיֶה טָמֵא לָנֶפֶשׁ אוֹ בְדֶרֶךְ רְחֹקָה לָכֶם אוֹ לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם וְעָשָׂה פֶסַח לַיהוָה.”
“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If anyone of you or your generations becomes unclean because of a dead person, or is on a distant way for you, he may, however, make the Passover to YHVH”
The Zohar explains that a person that was worthy of receiving additional soul from the level of Neshama but became uncleaned, the Shechinah cannot be with him and can’t receive holiness from the higher level.
#67
On the word ‘רְחֹקָה’ in the Torah, there is a special dot above the letter Hה. It is one of ten places in the Torah that has dots above letters. In this place, the dot above the Hה represents the impurity of the person that caused him to be ‘distant’ from the place of pure connection that the Israelites come closer to YHVH.
‘a distant way for you’ implies the way of the other-side that is far from holiness.
Lesson;
Only when we make a proper action below with purity, we connect to the spiritual energy above. The Light of Holidays and Shabbat is available to people wherever they are in the world, but only those who make the proper actions to connect to that light can benefit from it. Shabbat is a special Holy day when we have the opportunity to connect to the Light of Binah. Men and women have different actions to MAKE their Shabbat a ‘charging station for the whole week. The basic is that the home is prepared as we would prepare it for a special and honorable guest. Clean, special dinner and even dedicated utensils for Shabbat meals. Nice table cloth, wine, challah, etc. Friday prayer, Kiddush, and keep peace at home. Sat-n is stronger on Friday afternoon, as he was on the first Friday in the Garden of Eden. We want to restrict on any ‘trigger’ he may introduce and take away the light of Shabbat from us. Women light Shabbat Candles to push away the Snake and bring blessings to the home
Torah reading and Zohar study on Shabbat is on the highest level of ‘making the Shabbat.’
The more action we do to follow the Shabbat laws, the higher Light we receive.
Another essential preparation for Shabbat is giving Tzedakah every week. Like I mentioned before, it can be small amounts. This is a spiritual teaching, not a solicitation to give to the Daily Zohar. We welcome your contribution, but I want you to understand the spiritual significance of giving Tzedakah frequently to channels of Light. These actions of giving make openings of higher channels of light that fill your vessels with Light on Shabbat. If you have limited income, you can have a small Tzedakah box/jar at home and drop a few coins every Friday with a prayer to have more and be able to do more. It’s all relative to your vessel. A person who is a miser and or with an intense desire for the self alone considered ‘unclean’ and cannot receive a higher level of light.
We just celebrated the Holiday of Shavuot celebrating the gift of the Torah. In Egypt, we were in deep impurity, and God allowed us to cleanse ourselves from the Egypt aspects by counting seven weeks. A woman after her monthly cycle counts seven days of purity before she can have unification with her husband. Men count seven weeks to become pure and ready to receive the Light of the Torah. A proper preparation during the week by keeping positive and pure actions with Torah/Zohar studies and giving Tzedakah make our vessel worthy of higher light on Shabbat.
