After God removed the negative connection of the Left arm (Esau, Sam-el) from the Torah, he turns to the Right that is Chessed, Abraham, where there is the negative aspect of Ishmael. God called the minister of Ishmael, Rahav, and asked him if he wants to follow the Torah. Rahav asked to what is written in it and God skipped a lot and pointed to “You shall not commit adultery”. Rahav thought to himself that if God gives him this Torah it will take away his control over adultery. He received the blessing of the waters that is a vehicle for ‘fruitfulness’.
In Genesis 17:20 we read the blessing that Ishmael received from his father, Isaac.
“וּלְיִשְׁמָעֵאל שְׁמַעְתִּיךָ הִנֵּה בֵּרַכְתִּי אֹתוֹ וְהִפְרֵיתִי אֹתוֹ וְהִרְבֵּיתִי אֹתוֹ בִּמְאֹד מְאֹד שְׁנֵים עָשָׂר נְשִׂיאִם יוֹלִיד וּנְתַתִּיו לְגוֹי גָּדוֹל.”
“”As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful and will multiply him exceedingly. He shall become the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation.”
The connection of water to ‘fruitfulness’ comes from the days of Creation.
Genesis 1:22
“וַיְבָרֶךְ אֹתָם אֱלֹהִים, לֵאמֹר: פְּרוּ וּרְבוּ, וּמִלְאוּ אֶת-הַמַּיִם בַּיַּמִּים, וְהָעוֹף, יִרֶב בָּאָרֶץ”
“God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.””
Ishmael was born to be a ‘wild man’, rejecting all limitations, seeking great dwelling areas and wealth.
Genesis 16:12
“וְהוּא יִהְיֶה, פֶּרֶא אָדָם–יָדוֹ בַכֹּל, וְיַד כֹּל בּוֹ; וְעַל-פְּנֵי כָל-אֶחָיו, יִשְׁכֹּן”
“”He will be a wild man, His hand will be against everyone, and everyone’s hand will be against him; And he will dwell over against all his brothers.””

Rahav pleaded to God saying that Abraham has two children, and Isaac has two sons that deserve the Torah. God replied that he is the firstborn of Abraham and he should receive it. Rahav started begging and ask God to take the light he inherited as a firstborn from him and give it to them. The Holy One Blessed be He did so. That was the aspect of “He shone forth from Mount Paran” (Deuteronomy 33:2).
Lesson;
The negative side is the first to take its share of light so the first or beginning of everything is under the risk of getting hurt by them.
God loves the Israelites because they came from pure side. Abraham had Ishmael first to clear the path for Isaac. Ishmael was his firstborn son. He came from Hagar was Egyptian with an impure vessel. Then Abraham had Isaac from Sarah as promised to them by God. Isaac had the twins Esau and Jacob. Esau came out before Jacob to let the other-side have a share of the light. Jacob was the third generation, pure and complete, with merits to inherit the Light of the Torah.
God’s love for us and ‘tactics’ guaranteed that we will have a pure Torah without any attachments of entitlements of the negative-side. The sages teach us that when we the evil-side is after us, we turn to the Torah because they don’t have any part in it and can not use it against us and they leave us alone.
Our Daily Zohar studies are the best shield from negativity.
