Zohar Vaetchanan

The man that joined them in this study opened and quoted Exodus 33:11
“וְדִבֶּר יְהוָה אֶל מֹשֶׁה פָּנִים אֶל פָּנִים כַּאֲשֶׁר יְדַבֵּר אִישׁ אֶל רֵעֵהוּ וְשָׁב אֶל הַמַּחֲנֶה וּמְשָׁרְתוֹ יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נוּן נַעַר לֹא יָמִישׁ מִתּוֹךְ הָאֹהֶל.”
“Thus YHVH used to speak to Moses, face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.”
He asks about the different unmatching subjects in this verse. At the beginning it talks about Moses speaking face to face with YHVH then Moses returned to the camp and then Joshua is a young man.
Rabbi Elazar said that the Holy One Blessed be He is pleased with them and they are in unification with the Shechina that would speak through them.

Rabbi Elazar explains that ‘YHVH used to speak to Moses, face to face’ reveals that Moses was not like other prophets. He was called ‘Faithful Prophet’ and connected to the highest levels to receive messages from God and the prophecies that he describes in Deuteronomy.
Other prophets saw visions through a reflection of ‘אַסְפַּקְלַרְיָה שֶׁאֵינָהּ מְאִירָה’ ‘a mirror without light’. Moses saw the visions as direct light, not as a reflection.
The prophet Daniel describes how he received the prophecy about the future.
Daniel 10:9
“וָאֶשְׁמַע אֶת קוֹל דְּבָרָיו וּכְשָׁמְעִי אֶת קוֹל דְּבָרָיו וַאֲנִי הָיִיתִי נִרְדָּם עַל פָּנַי וּפָנַי אָרְצָה.”
“But I heard the sound of his words; and as soon as I heard the sound of his words, I fell into a deep sleep on my face, with my face to the ground.”

Even though Daniel received prophecies about the Final Redemption, he was still on a lower level when compared to Moses.

Lesson;
The world around us is basically pure Light. Everything around us is patterns of energy formed by atoms ‘assembled’ together with special relationships to one another. The soul is what connects the mind and consciousness of the world around us. People may see the same ‘images’ but each one may describe and understand it differently.

Rabbi Shimon read the Torah and saw beyond the words and letters. He saw the spiritual energies that are connected to each letter and word together with its exact placement in the Torah. It’s like we see water and he sees the molecules H2O and the force that holds the two hydrogens and one Oxygen together. On that level, he could command the molecules to separate into the basic elements God created (see table of elements).
The Holy Ari saw people and objects around him and could tell about the souls connected to them and everything in this world.
Those who read the Torah in a translated language have a limited understanding of the meanings when compared to a person that reads and understands the Hebrew language. Even among those who understand the Hebrew language perfectly, there are many levels of understanding when it comes to the Torah. Those who study more, see and understand more than others because the light that they revealed with each study polish their personal mirror and let more light pass through it.
