Daily Zohar # 3826 – Shemot – Mashiach and the bond to life
Daily Zohar 3826

Zohar Shemot
Continued from previous DZ
#102
The same star will make war with them using fiery torches, spreading sparks to all sides. This star strikes them until it swallows them every evening and evening, and at day time he takes them out to make war, and the whole world could see it. And so it repeats every day for seventy days. After seventy days, that star will be hidden, and so is the Mashiach for twelve months. The pillar of fire will return as before but not seen, and the Mashiach will be hidden in it.
#103
After twelve months, the Mashiach will go up to the heavens to receive authority and the crown to rule over the kingdom, Malchut. When he comes down, the pillar of fire would appear again and be seen by the whole world as before. Then Mashiach would be revealed, and many nations would gather around him. He will wage wars over the entire world. At that time, the Holy One Blessed be He would awaken his might, and the whole world would know the King Mashiach, and all kings of the earth would join to do war with him.
#104
Some of the Jewish leaders in Israel will join the other nations and make war against King Mashiach. Then the world would go into darkness for fifteen days, and many from the people of Israel would die in this darkness. About this it is written;
Isaiah 60:2
“For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But YHVH will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.”
Lesson;
Some interpret the description of the Zohar as a war involving ballistic missiles. Our imagination can go in many directions, but we prefer to read the spiritual symbols and their meanings.
The pillar of fire represents the guidance of Hashem, like the pillar of fire that guided the Israelites on their way to the Holy Land. It is the center column of the Tree of Life that Moses would open to bring Mashiach down to this world. The fiery torches represent the cleansing powers from above that remove all evil and impurities from the world. The upper three sefirot are always pure, and the purification of this world would be on the lower seven that each has its own ten sefirot to make 70 levels that require cleansing. This process would take 70 days, but we should know that each sefira is called a day, so when the Zohar says 70 days, it doesn’t necessarily mean 1680 (70×24) hours. It could be as simple as 70 pulses of fire that ‘burns’ the negativity in this world.
The darkness is similar to the ninth plague of darkness inflicted on Egypt. The Zohar says that many from Israel would die during the darkness that would be before the final revelation of Mashiach as King over Israel and the entire earth.
The sages tell us that when the Egyptians experienced paralyzing darkness, Israel had light in all their dwellings because they had Hashem on their side. The sages also reveal that about 80% of the Israelites died during that darkness in Egypt. It means that 600,000 left Egypt, but 2,400,000 Israelites died.
Darkness means a lack of light. Those who didn’t have faith and cling to the physical/material world did not survive the darkness in Egypt and would not survive the darkness in the future because the Light will swallow darkness.
We need to stay on the side of the Light with absolute certainty no matter what may happen around us. Hashem is Light, our faith in him is Light, and the certainty is the bond that would protect us. Without certainty, we are on the side of darkness that would be nullified when the great light is revealed in the world. Our certainty must exist in us before the Light appears because by then, it would be too late.
