Zohar Balak

#401
Since the appointed minister (Balaam’s god) came, Balaam did his ‘act’ with his female donkey(jenny), while speaking words of witchcraft, and his jenny would tell him things. He would follow his jenny to have the evil spirit with him. He knew that the donkeys come at the beginning of the night, and with his actions and words, he connected his Jenny with them so she can reveal to him whatever he needs.
#402
Numbers 22:12
“וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים אֶל בִּלְעָם לֹא תֵלֵךְ עִמָּהֶם לֹא תָאֹר אֶת הָעָם כִּי בָרוּךְ הוּא.”
“And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”
Balaam was told at night, “You shall not go with them”, and the Zohar asked, what was the point that he returned a second time. And answers that they were under the authority of the above. We learned that the way a person wants to go, he is led. In the beginning, it is written, you shall not go with them, but since the Holy One Blessed be He saw that Balaam’s will was to go. He said to him;
Numbers 22:20
“וַיָּבֹא אֱלֹהִים אֶל בִּלְעָם לַיְלָה וַיֹּאמֶר לוֹ אִם לִקְרֹא לְךָ בָּאוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים קוּם לֵךְ אִתָּם וְאַךְ אֶת הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ אֹתוֹ תַעֲשֶׂה.”
“And God came to Balaam at night and said to him, “If the men come to call you, rise and go with them; but only the word which I speak to you—that you shall do.”
What did Balaam do? All that night, he pondered and said, “What then is my honor if I am bound by one bond, that is, by the permission of the Highest?”. He did not find any support, except the side of his jenny because only with the power of his jenny, drawn from the other side, he could cut off from the supernal authority and follow his own desires.
Lesson;
We receive guidance from above, but since we have the freedom to choose, we are allowed to follow our own ways. Making wrong choices lead to corrections that can be avoided if we follow the ways of Hashem.
Balaam had a big ego and chose to use his witchcraft which was magnified by having sex with his jenny. Later he was killed by his own sword (Balak #181). Sword represents Balaam’s tongue that was used to spread negativity.
