Genesis 49:11
“אֹסְרִי לַגֶּפֶן עירה [עִירוֹ] וְלַשֹּׂרֵקָה בְּנִי אֲתֹנוֹ כִּבֵּס בַּיַּיִן לְבֻשׁוֹ וּבְדַם עֲנָבִים סותה [סוּתוֹ].”
“Binding his donkey to the vine, And his donkey’s colt to the choice vine, He washed his garments in wine, And his clothes in the blood of grapes.”
Rabbi Shimon explains that because the donkey prosecutes Israel, in the future, HaShem would bind the donkey to the vine that is Israel as we read;
Psalm 80:9
“גֶּפֶן מִמִּצְרַיִם תַּסִּיעַ תְּגָרֵשׁ גּוֹיִם וַתִּטָּעֶהָ.”
“You have brought a vine out of Egypt; You have cast out the nations and planted it.”
The verse above says, “And his donkey’s colt to the noble vine (שֹּׂרֵקָה)” to tell that Hashem would also bind what comes out of the female donkey.
The word שֹּׂרֵקָה ‘noble vine’ is also a reference to Israel as we read in;
Jeremiah 2:21
“וְאָנֹכִי נְטַעְתִּיךְ שֹׂרֵק כֻּלֹּה זֶרַע אֱמֶת וְאֵיךְ נֶהְפַּכְתְּ לִי סוּרֵי הַגֶּפֶן נָכְרִיָּה.”
“Yet I had planted you a noble vine (שֹׂרֵק), a seed of highest quality. How then have you turned before Me Into the degenerate plant of an alien vine?”

Lesson;
In Genesis 49, we read the prophecy that Jacob told his children before passing away. He said to them that the negative side would be bound and subdued to them in the future.
Hashem’s promises to the children of Israel make them indestructible. No matter how long they have to go through difficult times and prosecutions. In the end, Israel always wins.

The Sefirot on the side of the donkey and the female donkey are all in the aspect of “קֶסֶם” “Magic.” There are another ten sefirot on the Right and ten on the Left that is in the aspect of “נַחַשׁ” “Snake.”
It is written;
Numbers 23:23
“כִּי לֹא נַחַשׁ בְּיַעֲקֹב וְלֹא קֶסֶם בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל כָּעֵת יֵאָמֵר לְיַעֲקֹב וּלְיִשְׂרָאֵל מַה פָּעַל אֵל.”
“For there is no sorcery against Jacob, Nor any magic against Israel. It now must be said of Jacob And of Israel, ‘Oh, what God has done!'”
Israel cannot be controlled by sorcery and magic because “יְהוָה אֱלֹהָיו עִמּוֹ” “YHVH God is with him” (Numbers 23:21).
From the side of the snake (נַחַשׁ) comes a bull “שור.” From the side of magic (קֶסֶם) comes a donkey. Balaam knew that he was bound by supernal authority. He was told, “וְאַךְ אֶת הַדָּבָר אֲשֶׁר אֲדַבֵּר אֵלֶיךָ אֹתוֹ תַעֲשֶׂה” “But do only what I tell you to do” (Numbers 22:20). This limitation was not Balaam’s wish, so he looked to find another way with his witchcraft. He found that he could use his female donkey to execute his evil plan.

Lesson;
In the end, Balaam couldn’t curse Israel because they had the protection of Hashem, which was in the middle of the camps of Israel. Our connection to Torah studies protects us from all kinds of negativity, including the evil eye and other undesired situations.
Genesis chapter 49 has the prophecy and blessings of Jacob to his sons. There are many hidden secrets, protection, and success in this chapter. When we read the entire Torah, we connect to seeds of Light that would wash away all blockages from our lives. All we need is to be with Hashem so he will be with us and have the fulfillment mentioned in Numbers 23:21-23.
