Genesis 1:16
“Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.”
When the moon was conjunct with the sun, the moon was with its own light. Since the moon was separated from the sun and was entrusted with her own forces, she diminished herself, diminished her light, and Klipot was created to conceal the essence of the light. It was done to correct the inner light. For that reason, it is written “מארת” “Lights” without the letter Vav ו.
Initially, Zeir Anpin, and Nukva, called Sun and Moon, were of equal spiritual level and together as one, in the secret of “two great lights.” At that time, the Nukva, the Moon, had all of her light and didn’t need Light from Zeir Anpin, the Sun. The Nukva could not stay in this state and went down from the world of Atzilut to the world of Beriah (בריאה).
#111
The words at the beginning of the verse, “וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים” “Then God made…” refers to a mature state and a correction state. In the secret of the complete name “YHVH ELHYM.” Even though it is not revealed, these names refer to Zeir Anpin and Nukva in an equal state when they have the Mochin of Chokmah.
#112
“Two great lights” tells us that they reached the maturity level to receive the special name “מצפ”ץ” that unifies everything. The name “מצפ”ץ” is YHVH in Atbash (א”ת ב”ש). Zeir Anpin receives from “מצפ”ץ” on the Right, and the Nukva receives from “מצפ”ץ” on the Left. Then they are called “the great Lights.”
Exodus 34:6,7
“And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “YHVH, YHVH, God , merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,”
“keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin…”
The two YHVH names before the thirteen attributes of mercy are the two “מצפ”ץ” on the side of Arich Anpin. These names are called “The Great Lights.”
