Daily Zohar # 4114 – Vayetze – Look for the woman, by God! Look for the woman!
Daily Zohar 4114

Zohar Vayetze

#124
Jacob said to himself I want to connect with the Shechinah; that is the secret of the well because I want to marry a wife. When my father wanted to marry a wife, he sent his servant. The servant came to a spring of water, where he found a wife for my father, and in Haran, I found no spring, no cistern, no water.
Immediately after that, Jacob went to the land of the people of the East, where he came across a well and met his wife.
#125
Rabbi Elazar said the land of the east and the well were in the area of Haran. We learn that from;
Genesis 29:12
“And Jacob told Rachel that he was her father’s relative and that he was Rebekah’s son. So she ran and told her father.”
Rachel ran to tell her father, Lavan because the well was close to the city of Haran.
#126
Rabbi Elazar asked why Jacob didn’t meet Leah at the well; after all, she brought the most number of tribes to Jacob. He answers, rather, the Holy One, Blessed be He did not want Jacob to unite with Leah openly. We read that only after the wedding Jacob realized that he married Leah before Rachel. It is written;
Genesis 29:25
“So it came to pass in the morning, that behold, it was Leah. And he said to Laban, “What have you done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served you? Why, then, have you deceived me?”
