#121
Exodus 7:12
“וַיַּשְׁלִיכוּ אִישׁ מַטֵּהוּ וַיִּהְיוּ לְתַנִּינִם וַיִּבְלַע מַטֵּה אַהֲרֹן אֶת מַטֹּתָם.”
“For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.”
Rabbi Yossi said you might say that everything the sorcerers do is only an illusion. It may seem real, as the verse says, “and they became serpents,” to mean that they did actual serpents (‘תַּנִּין,’ Tanin, crocodiles). Rabbi Yossi adds that even after their Tanin turned back to wooden rods, Aaron’s rod swallowed them as it is written, “But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.”

Ezekiel 29:3
“דַּבֵּר וְאָמַרְתָּ כֹּה אָמַר אֲדֹנָי יְהוִה הִנְנִי עָלֶיךָ פַּרְעֹה מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם הַתַּנִּים הַגָּדוֹל הָרֹבֵץ בְּתוֹךְ יְאֹרָיו אֲשֶׁר אָמַר לִי יְאֹרִי וַאֲנִי עֲשִׂיתִנִי.”
“Speak, and say, ‘Thus says YHVH GOD: “Behold, I am against you, O Pharaoh king of Egypt, O great monster (תנין Tanin, Crocodile) who lies in the midst of his rivers (Nile), Who has said, ‘My River is my own; I have made it for myself.’”
Pharaoh is called the great “הַתַּנִּים” “Crocodile (Tanin)” because the source of his power to rule is from the lower levels of the rivers.
The Tanin and its thousand rivers are close to holiness, and when the Tanin lies in the rivers, they are in completion (As described in #106 above). Only when the Tanin swims in the rivers, the impurity revealed in its tail once every seventy years. The impurity levels below the big Tanin and his rivers have already preceded them, and they are not worthy of drawing light from the Tanin and his rivers. For that reason, the beginning of control is from the great Tanin, and only their king (Pharaoh) can receive from him. The wisdom of the Egyptians themselves is from the impure lower levels.
#123
To subjugate their lower levels to the upper levels, which are the great Tanin and its rivers, to be included in them. Then they can continue light to the lower levels as well.
Their king draws force from the Tanin, and they receive it from him. That is why their king looks like a great Tanin crouching in his rivers.
