He told them it was proper to create man like this, with aspects of light and darkness. The Torah was created because of him, where it is written about punishments for the wicked and rewards for the righteous.
Isaiah 45:18
“כִּי כֹה אָמַר יְהוָה בּוֹרֵא הַשָּׁמַיִם הוּא הָאֱלֹהִים יֹצֵר הָאָרֶץ וְעֹשָׂהּ הוּא כוֹנְנָהּ לֹא תֹהוּ בְרָאָהּ לָשֶׁבֶת יְצָרָהּ אֲנִי יְהוָה וְאֵין עוֹד.”
“For thus says YHVH, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am YHVH, and there is no other.”
They said, surely now we have heard what we have just heard; indeed, the Holy One, blessed be He, has not created anything unnecessary.

Lesson;
God created the world for us to have the freedom to choose between good or bad, rewards or punishments.

In addition, the Torah of creation is the clothing of the Shechina, and if man had not been created, the Shechina would be without a cover like a poor man. Therefore, everyone who has sinned, as if he stripped the Shechina of her clothes, causing punishment upon himself.
