“הִשְׁבַּעְתִּי אֶתְכֶם בְּנוֹת יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם בִּצְבָאוֹת אוֹ בְּאַיְלוֹת הַשָּׂדֶה אִם תָּעִירוּ וְאִם תְּעוֹרְרוּ אֶת הָאַהֲבָה עַד שֶׁתֶּחְפָּץ”
“I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles (צְבָאוֹת) or by the hinds of the field, that you not awaken or stir up love until it so desires.”
Rabbi Shimon explains: “My son Elazar, all these things can be found in the secret of the thirty-two paths of wisdom of the Holy Name. As long as these miracles are not awakened in the world, the secret of the Holy Name will not be completed, nor will love be awakened, as it is written, ‘I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the gazelles…’. ‘By the gazelles’ refers to the King Mashiach, who is called ‘צְבָאוֹת’ ‘Tzevaot.’ ‘Or by the hinds of the field’ refers to the other hosts and camps below. ‘That you not awaken or stir up love’ refers to the right hand of the Holy One, Blessed be He, which is the Sefira of Chessed, called love. ‘Until it so desires’ refers to the Shechinah in exile, lying in the dust, until the King’s will be with her. Righteous will be he who merits to live in that generation, righteous in this world, and righteous in the world to come.

Rabbi Shimon raised his hands in prayer before the Holy One, Blessed be He, and prayed his prayer. After he finished his prayer, his son Rabbi Elazar and Rabbi Aba came and sat before him. While they were sitting before him, they saw a single light of the day darkened and a single pipe of blazing fire, meaning a stream of blazing fire. It sank into the Sea of Tiberias, and the entire place trembled.
