Hebrew translation:

287. בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁאוֹתָן רוּחוֹת יוֹצְאוֹת מִמְּקוֹמָן, כָּל רוּחַ וְרוּחַ מִתְתַּקֶּנֶת לִפְנֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בְּתִקּוּנֵי כָבוֹד, בְּפַרְצוּף שֶׁעוֹמֵד בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה, וּמֵאוֹתוֹ דְיוֹקָן תִּקּוּן כָּבוֹד יוֹצֵא הַצֶּלֶם הַזֶּה. וְזֶה שְׁלִישִׁי לָרוּחַ, וּמַקְדִּימָה בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה בִּזְמַן שֶׁנִּמְצָא הַזִּוּוּג. וְאֵין לְךָ זִוּוּג בָּעוֹלָם שֶׁלֹּא נִמְצָא בְתוֹכָם צֶלֶם. אֲבָל יִשְׂרָאֵל קְדוֹשִׁים, הַצֶּלֶם הַזֶּה קָדוֹשׁ, וּמִמָּקוֹם קָדוֹשׁ הוּא נִמְצָא בְתוֹכָם. וּלְעוֹבְדֵי כוֹכָבִים וּמַזָּלוֹת צֶלֶם מֵאוֹתָם הַמִּינִים הָרָעִים, מִצַּד הַטֻּמְאָה נִמְצָא בְתוֹכָם. וְעַל כֵּן לֹא צָרִיךְ לְאָדָם לְעָרֵב צֶלֶם שֶׁלּוֹ בְּצֶלֶם שֶׁל עוֹבְדֵי עֲבוֹדָה זָרָה, מִשּׁוּם שֶׁזֶּה קָדוֹשׁ – וְזֶה טָמֵא. בֹּא רְאֵה מַה בֵּין יִשְׂרָאֵל לְעוֹבְדֵי כוֹכָבִים וּמַזָּלוֹת וְכוּ’.

When these spirits depart from their place, each spirit comes before the Holy King for rectification in the image that would be in this world. And from that form and rectification, that Tzelem emerges. For the Tzelem is a garment for the soul, and they are like light and vessel. The soul levels of Nefesh and Ruach are before the Tzelem, which precedes its arrival into this world when a couple is unified, and there is no pairing in the world that does not have the Tzelem within it. However, for the holy Israelites, this holy Tzelem comes from a holy place, whereas for idolaters, their Tzelem comes from bad types, from the impure side. Therefore, a person should not mix his Tzelem with the Tzelem of idolaters because one is holy and the other is unclean.
