Zohar Kedoshim

#108
Come and see, when the Holy One, blessed be He, created the world, He arranged everything, each thing in its proper place, either on the right side or on the left side, and assigned them to higher powers. There is not even a tiny blade of grass on earth that does not have an assigned higher power above it in the upper worlds. Everything that happens to each one, and everything that each one does, is all under the influence of the higher power appointed over it above. All actions are determined by decrees and enacted and sustained by them. No one deviates from their designated order.

Notes:
This section emphasizes the meticulous design and structure embedded in Creation by God. Each element, from the grand to the minute, has its place and is governed by specific spiritual forces. The right and left sides symbolize the forces of mercy, Chessed and judgment, and Gevurah, respectively. The idea that even a blade of grass has a higher power overseeing it in the spiritual realms highlights the interconnectedness between the physical and spiritual worlds. The governance of all things by justice underscores the fundamental principle that everything operates within the laws of Creation, ensuring order and harmony.

And all the appointed ones, from the day the world was created, were appointed as rulers over everything. And they all operate according to a higher law that each one receives. As it is written,
Proverbs 31:15
“וַתָּקָם בְּעוֹד לַיְלָה וַתִּתֵּן טֶרֶף לְבֵיתָהּ וְחֹק לְנַעֲרֹתֶיהָ.”
“She rises while it is yet night and provides food for her household and a portion for her maidservants.”
Since they receive this law, all the appointed ones are called “חֻקּוֹת” “statutes.” And all laws given to them come from the heavens; therefore, they are called “חֻקּוֹת שָׁמַיִם” “heavens’ statutes.”
And how do we know they come from the heavens? Because it is written,
Psalm 81:5
“כִּי חֹק לְיִשְׂרָאֵל הוּא מִשְׁפָּט לֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב.”
“For this is a statute for Israel, A law of the God of Jacob.”
Zeir Anpin, which is the middle line, is called Israel.

Notes:
This paragraph extends the previous discussion by explaining that spiritual forces, angels, were appointed over every element from the beginning of Creation. These forces follow a higher law they receive from the heavens, reflecting supernal wisdom and order. The reference to Proverbs 31:15 suggests that these forces diligently fulfill their roles to sustain Creation, much like the virtuous woman aspect of the Shechina provides for her household, Israel.
The term “חֻקּוֹת” “statutes” indicates fixed, unchanging laws that these supernal forces adhere to. These laws are from the heavens, ensuring the divine order is maintained across all levels of existence. The connection to “כִּי חֹק לְיִשְׂרָאֵל הוּא” “For it is a statute for Israel,” and the mention of Zeir Anpin as Israel implies that this divine order flows through the central line of the Tree of Life, harmonizing the right and left lines, mercy, and judgment.

Therefore, it is written,
Leviticus 18:4
“אֶת מִשְׁפָּטַי תַּעֲשׂוּ וְאֶת חֻקֹּתַי תִּשְׁמְרוּ לָלֶכֶת בָּהֶם אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם.”
“You shall observe My statutes and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am YHVH your God.”
“observe My statutes” because each one is appointed over a specific thing in the world according to that statute. For this reason, mixing species and bringing one species into another is forbidden because it uproots each power from its place and denies the manifestation of the King’s work.

Notes:
Mixing species disrupts the order set at the time of Creation, causing a misalignment in the spiritual realms and negating the intended expression and manifestation of the Creator’s plan. By keeping the statutes and refraining from such mixtures, we uphold the integrity of the divine order and honor the King’s design and authority. This reinforces the laws that ensure harmony and balance.
