143. עוֹד אָמַר רַבִּי אֶלְעָזָר, זֶה שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר לֵאָה הוֹלִידָה שִׁשָּׁה בָנִים וּבַת אַחַת – כָּךְ זֶה וַדַּאי. רָחֵל שְׁנֵי בָנִים וַדַּאי, בְּנֵי הַשְּׁפָחוֹת אַרְבָּעָה. תִּקּוּנָם אֵיךְ עוֹמְדִים? אֶלָּא אוֹתָם אַרְבָּעָה קְשָׁרִים שֶׁנִּקְרָאִים אֲחוֹרַיִם, שֶׁכָּתוּב וְכָל אֲחֹרֵיהֶם בָּיְתָה.
144. שֶׁהֲרֵי בִּזְרוֹעַ יָמִין שְׁלֹשָׁה קְשָׁרִים, אֲבָל קֶשֶׁר אֶחָד בָּאֶמְצַע שֶׁהוּא גָדוֹל וְהוּא אָחוֹר, שֶׁנִּשְׁאַר בַּחוּץ. וְכֵן אֶחָד בִּזְרוֹעַ שְׂמֹאל, וְכֵן אֶחָד בְּיֶרֶךְ יָמִין, וְכֵן אֶחָד בְּיֶרֶךְ שְׂמֹאל. וּכְשֶׁהַכֹּל נִתְקַן, נִמְצְאוּ כֻלָּם בַּיְתָה, לְקַיֵּם אֶת הַפָּסוּק שֶׁכָּתוּב וְכָל אֲחֹרֵיהֶם בָּיְתָה.
145. כָּל שְׁאָר הַקְּשָׁרִים, כֻּלָּם נִרְאִים בְּיֹשֶׁר, וְאֵלּוּ יוֹצְאִים מִחוּץ לַזְּרוֹעוֹת וּמִחוּץ לַיְרֵכַיִם לְהֵרָאוֹת בִּפְנֵי הַשְּׁפָחוֹת. שֶׁאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁהֵם בַּמִּנְיָן, אֵינָם חֲשׁוּבִים כִּבְנֵי רָחֵל וְלֵאָה, וּמִשּׁוּם כָּךְ יָצְאוּ בַּחוּץ.
146. דָּבָר אַחֵר, אֵלּוּ הֵם הָאַרְבָּעָה שֶׁכָּל שְׁאָר הַקְּשָׁרִים נוֹטְלִים בִּשְׁבִילָם, וְאֵלּוּ נוֹטְלִים אוֹתָם. אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, כָּךְ זֶה וַדַּאי, [אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, זֶה לֹא זֶה] וְעַל כֵּן הַכֹּל נִתְקָן יַחַד.

Rabbi Elazar also said: “What we have learned—that Leah gave birth to six sons and one daughter, corresponding to the sefirot of Chessed, Gevurah, Tiferet, Netzach, Hod, Yessod, and Malchut—is certainly true. And Rachel gave birth to two sons, representing the two Tzadikim, the upper and the lower Yessod, which is certainly true. But as for the four sons of the maidservants, I ask: Where is their rectification (Tikun)? For in the sons of Rachel and Leah, all the sefirot are already present.”
The answer is: “They are the four connections called ‘the אחור parts,’ as it is written: “וְכָל אֲחוֹרֵיהֶם בֵּיתָהּ” ‘And all their אחוריים (back, behind)  parts were inward'” (1 Kings 7:25).

On the right arm, which corresponds to Chessed, there are three connections, as the arm is divided into three sections: the upper arm, the forearm, and the hand, each joined by three connections. However, one connection in the middle is larger than the others and is considered to be a “אחור part,” as it protrudes outward from the body.
Similarly, there is one middle connection among the three connections on the left arm, one on the right thigh, and one on the left thigh. These are the four “אחור connections.”
When all is properly rectified, these four אחור connections are drawn inward, into the inner part of the body, as it is written: וְכָל אֲחוֹרֵיהֶם בֵּיתָהּ “And all their אחור parts were inward” (1 Kings 7:25). The term בֵּיתָהּ (inward) indicates that these connections are integrated into the internal structure.

Aside from the four, all other connections appear aligned and in harmony with the body’s organs. But these four connections protrude outward from the arms and thighs, symbolizing the sons of the maidservants. Although they are included in the count of the twelve tribes, they do not carry the same significance as the sons of Leah and Rachel. Therefore, they are represented as protruding outward from the arms and thighs.

Another explanation: These are the sons of the maidservants, representing the four connections (ד’ קשרים), from which all other connections draw their strength, and these four sustain them. Rabbi Elazar said: This is undoubtedly true; therefore, they all become rectified together.
It is already known that the number 12 represents the Merkavah, whose purpose is to draw the Light of Chokmah into the lower worlds.

The Illumination of Three Lines in Each of the Four Aspects:
Zeir Anpin (Z “A) is composed of four primary aspects: Chochmah, Binah, Tiferet, and Malchut
In each of these aspects, three lines operate right (Chessed), Left (Gevurah), and Middle (Tiferet).
These three lines illuminate within each of the four aspects, resulting in a total of four sets of three lines, equaling twelve: 4×3=12 
The Sefirot in Zeir Anpin:
Within Zeir Anpin specifically, the focus is placed on Chessed, Gevurah, Netzach, and Hod. Each of these sefirot is divided into three parts or sections corresponding to the three lines.
Thus, in each of the two arms of Zeir Anpin (Chessed and Gevurah), there are three sections, and similarly, in each of the two thighs (Netzach and Hod), there are also three sections.
Therefore:
3 sections × 4 sefirot = 12 sections.
The Meaning of the Merkavah:
The Merkavah is constructed from these 12 components, symbolizing the completeness of the spiritual structure.
The 12 tribes correspond to this same completeness, where each tribe represents a unique aspect of the Merkavah, enabling the Light of Wisdom to flow through the three lines and sefirot.

Additional Explanation of the “Connections”:
The connections in each segment of the arms and thighs (arms: Chessed and Gevurah; thighs: Netzach and Hod) represent the linkages and influences between the sefirot.
These connections enable the Light and upper force to flow through the three lines within each sefira, creating a unified and complete structure.
