Holy Zohar text. Daily Zohar -4768

Hebrew translation:

170. מָה הַטַּעַם עוֹמֶדֶת בִּפְגָם? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁלֹּא נִפְרְעוּ וְלֹא הִתְגַּלָּה אוֹת הַבְּרִית הַקָּדוֹשׁ. מְהוּלִים הָיוּ וְלֹא נִפְרְעוּ. מָתַי נִפְרְעוּ? בְּשָׁעָה שֶׁכָּתוּב (שמות טו) שָׁם שָׂם לוֹ חֹק וּמִשְׁפָּט וְשָׁם נִסָּהוּ. וְאַף עַל גַּב שֶׁבֵּאַרְנוּ פָּסוּק זֶה בְּדָבָר אַחֵר – הַכֹּל הָיָה וְרָאוּי.
171. וְאִם תֹּאמַר שֶׁנִּפְרְעוּ בִּימֵי יְהוֹשֻׁעַ – לֹא כָּךְ, אֶלָּא אוֹתָם שֶׁכָּתוּב (יהושע ה) וְכָל הָעָם הַיִּלּוֹדִים בַּמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ וְגוֹ’. אַחַר שֶׁנִּפְרְעוּ, אָמַר הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא, בַּהַתְחָלָה אֲכַלְתֶּם מַצּוֹת, כְּשֶׁעָמְדָה הַלְּבָנָה בִּפְגִימָתָהּ, וְנִקְרָא לֶחֶם עֹנִי. מִכָּאן וָהָלְאָה לֶחֶם זֶה יִהְיֶה מִמָּקוֹם אַחֵר. מַה הוּא? שֶׁכָּתוּב (שמות טז) הִנְנִי מַמְטִיר לָכֶם לֶחֶם מִן הַשָּׁמָיִם. לֹא מֵהַלְּבָנָה כְּמוֹ אוֹתוֹ זְמַן, אֶלָּא מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם מַמָּשׁ, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב וְיִתֵּן לְךָ הָאֱלֹהִים מִטַּל הַשָּׁמַים.

He asks: What is the reason the moon, which represents the Malchut, remained diminished?
He answers: It is because they (Israel) had not yet undergone the act of פריעה (peri’ah, After removing the foreskin, breaking the second layer is called Peri’ah) and had not revealed the holy sign (אות קודש, referring to the whole covenant of circumcision). Through peri’ah, the Mochin (lights of maturity) of Gadlut (state of greatness) are drawn down, and then the moon (Malchut) is in its fullness, as mentioned above.
Although the Israelites were circumcised, they had not performed peri’ah. And when was peri’ah performed? It was at the time about which it is written: “שָׁם שָׂם לוֹ חֹק וּמִשְׁפָּט וְשָׁם נִסָּהוּ”—”There He made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there He tested them” (Exodus 15:25).
And even though we explained this verse in a different context, it applies here as well, and it is a good explanation.

Notes:
The diminishment of the Malchut (moon) was due to the incomplete rectification of the covenant through peri’ah. This act represents the complete revelation of holiness and allows the moon (Malchut) to achieve its fullness. This rectification began at Marah, where the Israelites received laws and tested their spiritual readiness.

And if you say that the peri’ah (uncovering) occurred in the days of Joshua, this is not so. Instead, it refers to those about whom it is written: “וְכָל הָעָם הַיְלִידִים בַּמִּדְבָּר בַּדֶּרֶךְ וגו'”—”And all the people who were born in the wilderness, on the way…” (Joshua 5:5).
After the act of peri’ah was performed, the Holy One, Blessed be He, said: “At first, you ate matzot because the moon (Malchut) was in its diminished state, and it was called ‘bread of affliction (לֶחֶם עֹנִי, lechem oni).’ From now on, this bread will come from a different place.”
And what is that place? It is as it is written: “הִנְנִי מַמְטִיר לָכֶם לֶחֶם מִן הַשָּׁמָיִם”—”Behold, I will rain down bread from heaven for you” (Exodus 16:4).
Not from the moon (Malchut), as in that time before they performed peri’ah, but rather from the heavens (שָּׁמַיִם), which is Ze’ir Anpin, as it is written: “וְיִתֶּן לְךָ הָאֱלֹקִים מִטַּל הַשָּׁמַיִם”—”And may God give you of the dew of the heavens…” (Genesis 27:28).
Notes:
After the rectification through peri’ah, their sustenance elevated to come directly from Ze’ir Anpin (שָּׁמַיִם, heavens), symbolizing a higher spiritual source of abundance and blessing. This transition reflects their spiritual ascent and the restoration of divine order.
