Hebrew translation:

145. פָּתַח רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְאָמַר, (דניאל ב) הוּא מְגַלֶּה עֲמֻקּוֹת וְנִסְתָּרוֹת, יוֹדֵעַ מַה בַּחֹשֶׁךְ, וְהָאוֹר שׁוֹרֶה עִמּוֹ. הוּא גָּלֵא עַמִּיקָתָא וּמְסַתְּרָתָא – הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מְגַלֶּה עֲמֻקּוֹת וְנִסְתָּרוֹת, שֶׁכָּל הַדְּבָרִים הָעֲמֻקִּים וְהַסְּתוּמִים הָעֶלְיוֹנִים הוּא מְגַלֶּה לָהֶם. וּמָה הַטַּעַם מְגַלֶּה לָהֶם? מִשּׁוּם שֶׁיָּדַע מָה בַחֲשׁוֹכָא. שֶׁאִם לֹא הָיָה הַחֹשֶׁךְ, לֹא נוֹדַע הָאוֹר. וְהוּא יָדַע מַה בַּחֹשֶׁךְ, וּמִפְּנֵי כָּךְ מְגַלֶּה עֲמֻקּוֹת וְנִסְתָּרוֹת. שֶׁאִם לֹא הַחֹשֶׁךְ, לֹא יִתְגַּלּוּ הַדְּבָרִים הָעֲמֻקִּים וְהַנִּסְתָּרִים. וּנְהוֹרָא עִמֵּהּ שְׁרֵא – מַהוּ אוֹר זֶה? אוֹר שֶׁמִּתְגַּלֶּה מִתּוֹךְ הַחֹשֶׁךְ.
146. וְאָנוּ, מִתּוֹךְ הַחֹשֶׁךְ שֶׁהָיָה בַּמִּדְבָּר, מִתְגַּלֶּה לָנוּ אוֹר זֶה. הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא יַשְׁרֶה עִמְּךָ אוֹר בָּעוֹלָם הַזֶּה וּבָעוֹלָם הַבָּא. הָלְכוּ רַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן וְהַחֲבֵרִים שְׁלֹשָׁה מִילִין אֵלּוּ אַחֲרָיו. אָמַר לוֹ, מַדּוּעַ לֹא הוֹלְכִים אֵלּוּ עִמְּךָ כְּבָרִאשׁוֹנָה? אָמַר לוֹ, לֹא רָצִיתִי לְהַטְרִיחַ לְבֶן אָדָם עִמִּי. עַכְשָׁו שֶׁבָּאוּ, נֵלֵךְ כְּאֶחָד. הָלְכוּ, וְרַבִּי שִׁמְעוֹן הָלַךְ לְדַרְכּוֹ. אָמַר רַבִּי אַבָּא, הֲרֵי אָנוּ יוֹדְעִים אֶת שְׁמוֹ, וְהוּא לֹא יוֹדֵעַ אֶת שְׁמוֹ שֶׁל מֹר? אָמַר לוֹ, מִמֶּנּוּ יָדַעְתִּי שֶׁלֹּא לְהִתְרָאוֹת. בָּרוּךְ ה’ לְעוֹלָם אָמֵן וְאָמֵן.

Rabbi Shimon opened and said: “הוּא גָּלֵא עַמִּיקָתָא וּמְסַתְּרָתָא יָדַע מָה בַחֲשׁוֹכָא וּנְהוֹרָא עִמֵּהּ שְׁרֵא.” “He reveals deep and hidden secrets; He knows what is in darkness, and light dwells with Him” (Daniel 2:22). “He reveals deep and hidden secrets”—this means that the Holy One, Blessed be He, reveals the highest and most concealed mysteries. All the hidden supernal depths are revealed by Him. This refers to the Middle Line, which reveals the depths within the two lines of Binah (right and left). And what is the reason that these secrets are revealed? It is because He knows what is in darkness—this refers to the darkness of the Left Side, where the light of Chokhmah is concealed due to the absence of Chasadim.
If not for this darkness, the light could not later be revealed through the Middle Line. Thus, He knows what is in darkness, meaning He includes it within the Right Line, And for this reason, He reveals deep and hidden secrets because if not for the darkness of the Left Side, the depths and mysteries would not be revealed. Then, “וּנְהוֹרָא עִמֵּהּ שְׁרֵא” “And light dwells with Him”—what is this light? It is the light that emerges from the darkness, meaning the light of Chokhmah, which is revealed through the balance of the Middle Line.
Notes:
This teaches us that spiritual struggles and moments of darkness are not meaningless—they are the precursors to higher divine illumination, ensuring that wisdom is revealed in its proper time and measure.

And we, from the darkness that existed in the wilderness, have now seen this light revealed to us. May the Merciful One cause His light to dwell with you in this world and in the World to Come. Rabbi Shimon and the companions walked three steps behind him. Rabbi Shimon asked him, “Why did your five companions not accompany you from the beginning but only now have come?”
The elder replied: “I did not want to trouble anyone to accompany me. But now that they have come let us go together.” So they walked together, and Rabbi Shimon continued on his way. Rabbi Abba said to him: “We know the name of the elder, but he does not know your name, my master.” Rabbi Shimon replied: “From him, I have learned the lesson of not revealing oneself unnecessarily. For he did not tell me his name until I asked him.”
Notes:
This teaches us that true humility means not burdening others unnecessarily. One must actively seek divine knowledge before it is revealed. Spiritual growth requires patience, humility, and seeking truth at the right time—a fundamental principle in both Kabbalistic ways and ethical living.
