Zohar Acharei Mot

#358
Two female spirits would come and mate with him (Adam), and he begot offspring through them. Those offspring became damaging forces in the world and are called “plagues of men” (נגעי בני אדם). They fly around human beings and dwell at the entrance of homes, in pits, and in latrines. Therefore, when a person has at the entrance of his home the holy name שדי—which corresponds to the upper Sefirot—then all those damaging forces flee and stay away from him. This is the meaning of the verse: “וְנֶגַע לֹא יִקְרַב בְּאָהֳלֶךָ” “No plague shall come near your tent” (Psalms 91:10) What is the “plague”? It refers specifically to these “plagues of men”—the damaging spirits born of that impure union.
Notes:
These are not plagues in the literal sense but energetic or spiritual disturbances—forces of impurity and damage that affect individuals through spiritual vulnerability.
The nameשדי often inscribed on mezuzahs placed at doorposts—is revealed to be a protective spiritual seal rooted in the Sefirot above. Its presence repels these damaging entities, ensuring spiritual protection for the household.
