270. וְאֵין רְשׁוּת לָאוֹת י’ לְהִתְקָרֵב לַה’ הַשְּׁנִיָּה. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב עֶרְוַת כַּלָּתְךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה. וְהֵם הִפְרִידוּ בֵּין ו’ לַה’ הָעֶלְיוֹנָה. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב עֶרְוַת אֵשֶׁת אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה. שֶׁי’ הִיא אָב, ה’ אֵם, ו’ בֵּן, ה’ בַּת. וְלָכֵן צִוָּה אֵלָיו ה’ עֶלְיוֹנָה. עֶרְוַת אֵשֶׁת אָבִיךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה. עֶרְוַת אֲחוֹתְךָ בַּת אָבִיךָ – זוֹ ה’ תַּחְתּוֹנָה. אֶת בַּת בְּנָהּ וְאֶת בַּת בִּתָּהּ – הֵם הֵ”א הֵ”א, שֶׁהֵם תּוֹלָדוֹת שֶׁל ה’. עֶרְוַת אֲחִי אָבִיךָ – זוֹ יוֹ”ד, שֶׁהוּא תּוֹלָדָה שֶׁל אוֹת י’, וְהוּא אָח לְוָא”ו.
271. סוֹף סוֹף בִּזְמַן שֶׁעֵרֶב רַב מְעֹרָבִים בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל, אֵין קִרְבָה וְיִחוּד בְּאוֹתִיּוֹת שֵׁם יהו”ה. וּמִיָּד שֶׁיִּמָּחוּ מֵהָעוֹלָם, נֶאֱמַר בָּאוֹתִיּוֹת שֶׁל הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא (זכריה יד) בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִהְיֶה יהו”ה אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד. וְלָכֵן אָדָם, שֶׁהֵם יִשְׂרָאֵל, יֵשׁ לָהֶם יִחוּד בַּתּוֹרָה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בָּהּ (משלי ג) עֵץ חַיִּים הִיא לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ, וְהִיא הַגְּבִירָה מַלְכוּ”ת, שֶׁמִּצִּדָּהּ נִקְרְאוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּנֵי מְלָכִים.

“There is no permission for the Yud of the Name YHVH to draw near to the final Hei because of the erev rav (mixed multitude), so that they do not draw sustenance from the final Hei. This is what is meant by “עֶרְוַת כַּלָּתְךָ לֹא תְגַלֵּה” ‘You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law’ (Leviticus 18:15), for the final Hei is considered the daughter-in-law of the Yud. As it is stated shortly thereafter, the Yud is the Father, meaning supernal Abba v’Imma (Father and Mother, Chokhmah and Binah), and the [first] Hei is the Mother, meaning Yisrael Saba and Tevuna. The Vav is the Son of the Yud, which is Abba v’Imma, and the final Hei is the Daughter of the [first] Hei, which is Yessod of ‘Tiferet. Thus, the final Hei is the Daughter of the [first] Hei and the daughter-in-law of the Yud, being the wife of the Vav, who is the Son of the Yud. If the Yud were to bestow its shefa (divine abundance) to the daughter-in-law, who is the final Hei, during the time of exile (גלות, galut), then the erev rav would receive that shefa. This would cause the nakedness of the daughter-in-law to be revealed. Therefore, it is said, ‘You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law.'”
Notes:
The flow of divine energy from the Yud to the final Hey is blocked during exile to prevent the Erev Rav from corruptly drawing sustenance. This dynamic is described through the Torah prohibition against uncovering the “nakedness of your daughter-in-law,” highlighting the spiritual modesty and protective concealment necessary in times of spiritual danger.

Ultimately, when the erev rav (mixed multitude) are intermingled with Israel, there is no closeness or unification (yichud) among the letters of the Holy Name YHVH. However, as soon as the erev rav are eradicated from the world, it is said regarding the letters of the Name of the Holy One, Blessed be He, ‘בַּיּוֹם הַהוּא יִהְיֶה יְהוָה אֶחָד וּשְׁמוֹ אֶחָד’—’ On that day, Hashem will be One, and His Name will be One’ (Zechariah 14:9).
For this reason, when the erev rav are no longer intermingled with Israel, a person who is of Israel achieves yichud (unification) through the Torah, as it is said about it, ‘עֵץ חַיִּים הִיא לַמַּחֲזִיקִים בָּהּ’—’ It is a Tree of Life to those who grasp it’ (Proverbs 3:18). The Torah is an aspect of the Matronita (the Divine Feminine, i.e., Malchut), and an aspect of Malchut (Kingship), through which Israel is called ‘בְּנֵי מְלָכִים’ ‘children of kings.’ This refers to the Torah of Atzilut (the World of Emanation), which is entirely composed of the Names of the Holy One, Blessed be He.
