Daily Zohar # 5010 – Vayetze – As her soul was departing
Daily Zohar 5010

#164
Rabbi Abba came and kissed him. He said to him, “This matter is hidden.” For the upper world was rectified with twelve that are from it. The meaning is: Even though the two kinds of rectifications (right and left) were already completed in the sons of Leah and the sons of the maids, which is the rectification of twelve, as mentioned above, nevertheless, this rectification of twelve is hidden. That is, they are under the dominion of covered Chassadim, for the rectification of twelve of the upper world is from its aspect, that is, covered Chassadim. And to reveal the Chassadim in the illumination of Chokhmah, two principal rectifications are needed, which are the two Tzaddikim in the lower world, which is Rachel, the secret of lower Chokhmah. The reason is that from Chokhmah of Arich Anpin until the level of Rachel, Chokhmah is found in concealment.
But come and see the secret of the matter. Every time a Tzaddik comes out from the lower world and enters, he enters through it and comes out from it. And for this reason, he is built in this place. And the principal is above and the principal is below. And he is always in the lower world, forever. As it is written: “וַיְהִי בְּצֵאת נַפְשָׁהּ כִּי מֵתָה”, “And it came to pass, as her soul was departing, for she died” (Genesis 35:18).
Notes:
Rabbi Abba praises Rabbi Chezkiah, explaining that the upper world’s twelve rectifications (Leah’s and maids’ sons) remain hidden under covered Chassadim. To reveal Chokhmah’s light, two Tzaddikim from Rachel’s lower world (Joseph and Benjamin) are required. The Tzaddik exists both above and below, eternally in the lower world, as Rachel’s death verse hints at the soul’s departure and perpetual presence.
#165
Come and see: In this lower world, which is the Nukva, the Tzaddik enters into her and comes out from her. When he enters, he is in the secret of Joseph the Tzaddik; when he comes out, he is in the secret of Benjamin the Tzaddik. And this is the meaning
of “וַיְהִי בְּצֵאת נַפְשָׁהּ כִּי מֵתָה”, “And it came to pass, as her soul was departing, for she died” (Genesis 35:18). He asks: Who is “her soul”? And he answers: This is the Tzaddik who comes out from her.
Notes:
In the lower world (Nukva/Malchut), the Tzaddik (Yessod) enters as Joseph (inflow) and exits as Benjamin (outflow). Rachel’s death verse (בְּצֵאת נַפְשָׁהּ) reveals the Tzaddik departing from Malchut, completing the cycle of giving and receiving life/souls.
