Daily Zohar # 5074 – Mishpatim – She can’t go back to the first

#172
“אַחֲרֵי אֲשֶׁר הֻטַּמָּאָה”— “after she has been defiled” (Deuteronomy 24:4). We have learned: the defilement is in her heart. He asks: If so, even if she distances herself and commits adultery without marriage, she should be forbidden.
And he answers: Once she has attached herself to another, she has received upon herself the portion of that evil side. And her first husband, who is from the other good side, the good will never have a part in her again, and will not increase at all in that place.
And therefore, if the latter man sends her away or if the latter man dies, she is forbidden to the first. But to all other people, she is permitted — perhaps she will forget the original place, and another will rise to unite with her.
Notes:
The defilement is spiritual — due to attachment to the evil side. Once a woman unites with another man, she receives an evil portion, permanently barring her from returning to her first husband (good side), even if the second marriage ends. She may remarry others, potentially forgetting the original bond.
#173
One who has children by his first wife and brings this woman into his house on that day cleaves to the harsh, revolving sword.
For two reasons: 1. Because she has already pushed out two men, and now he is the third. 2. And further, how can he give his spirit to a vessel that has already partnered with another, and unite and cleave to her? It is not because she is forbidden, but it certainly is a bad partnership for him.
Notes:
This Zohar warns against a man with children from his first wife bringing a second wife into his home. Such union cleaves to the “harsh, revolving sword” (divine judgment) for two reasons: she has already displaced two men, and the vessel (wife) has partnered with another, making spiritual union difficult. Though not forbidden, it is a harmful partnership for his soul.
