Zohar Terumah
Continued from previous DZ
#196
And because this אמר is a supernal secret — meaning Aba and Ima — and it is not like other sayings, the verse returns to it and says: “אֵין אֹמֶר וְאֵין דְּבָרִים” “There is no speech, and there are no words” (Psalms 19:4) — not like the sayings of the world, but this אמר is a supernal secret in the supernal levels, where there are no sayings and no words. That is to say, Chokhmah is concealed in them and does not shine, for the illumination of Chokhmah is called “speech” (דבור, dibur), and they are not heard as in the other levels that are in the secret of Emunah, which is Malchut, where they are a voice that is heard — meaning Chokhmah is revealed in her. But these — אמ” ר, which is Abba and Ima — are never heard. And this is what is written: “בְּלִי נִשְׁמָע קוֹלָם” “without their voice being heard” (Psalms 19:4). Its meaning is that Chokhmah is concealed in them and is not heard, for Chokhmah is revealed only in Malchut alone.
Notes:
The Zohar explains “אֵין אֹמֶר וְאֵין דְּבָרִים בְּלִי נִשְׁמָע קוֹלָם” (Psalms 19:4) as referring to the supernal אמר of Abba and Ima: unlike lower levels where Chokhmah (wisdom) manifests as audible “speech” and revelation (especially in Malchut/Emunah, where a voice is heard), in Aba and Ima Chokhmah remains completely concealed and silent. No voice or dibur emerges from them directly; revelation of Chokhmah occurs only through Malchut. This underscores the hidden, beyond description nature of the highest divine intellect on Shabbat day, contrasting with the audible manifestation below.
#197
“בְּכָל הָאָרֶץ יָצָא קַוָּם” “their line has gone out through all the earth” — even though they are Aba and Ima, supernal hidden ones that were never known in the world — meaning that Chokhmah is not revealed in them — nevertheless their flow and drawing down continues the flows below, to Malchut that is called “ארץ” “earth.” That is to say, the concealed Chokhmah in them is drawn to Malchut. And because of this drawing, we have perfect faith (אֱמוּנָה שְׁלֵמָה, emunah shelemah) in this world — meaning Malchut in the illumination of Chokhmah, which is called perfect faith. And all the people of the world speak of the secret of the faith of the Holy One, blessed be He — which is Malchut — in these levels, meaning in the Chokhmah of the levels of Aba and Ima, as if they were revealed even above in Aba and Ima, and were not hidden and concealed there. And this is: “וּבִקְצֵה תֵבֵל מִלֵּיהֶם” “and their words to the end of the world” (Psalms 19:5) — from the beginning of the world to the end of the world, the wise of heart speak in these concealed levels, even though they were not known in their place in Aba and Ima, for in Malchut they are revealed. As explained.
Notes:
The Zohar interprets “בְּכָל־הָאָרֶץ יָצָא קַוָּם” (Psalms 19:5) as the flow of concealed Chokhmah from Aba and Ima (hidden and silent above) descending to Malchut (“earth”). This transmission enables perfect faith (emunah shelemah) in the world — Malchut illuminated by supernal Chokhmah. Thus, even though Chokhmah remains unrevealed in its source, it manifests and is spoken of openly in Malchut throughout all time and space (“to the end of the world”), allowing the wise to discuss and experience these highest secrets as revealed below.
