455. אַחַר כָּךְ הוֹלִידוּ בֵּן רִאשׁוֹן. בֵּן שֶׁל הַזֻּהֲמָה הָיָה. שְׁנַיִם בָּאוּ עַל חַוָּה וְהִתְעַבְּרָה מֵהֶם וְהוֹלִידָה שְׁנַיִם, זֶה יָצָא לְמִינוֹ וְזֶה יָצָא לְמִינוֹ, וְרוּחַ שֶׁלָּהֶם נִפְרְדוּ זֶה לְצַד זֶה וְזֶה לְצַד זֶה. זֶה דּוֹמֶה לַצַּד שֶׁלּוֹ. וְזֶה דּוֹמֶה לַצַּד שֶׁלּוֹ.
456. מִצַּד שֶׁל קַיִן כָּל הַמְּדוֹרִים שֶׁל צַד שֶׁל הַמִּינִים הָרָעִים וְרוּחוֹת וְשֵׁדִים וּכְשָׁפִים בָּאִים, וּמִצַּד שֶׁל הֶבֶל שֶׁל רַחֲמִים יוֹתֵר וְלֹא בִשְׁלֵמוּת. יַיִן טוֹב בְּיַיִן רַע. וְלֹא נִתְקַן עִמּוֹ עַד שֶׁבָּא שֵׁת וְהִתְיַחֲסוּ מִמֶּנּוּ כָּל אוֹתָם דּוֹרוֹת שֶׁל צַדִּיקֵי עוֹלָם, וּבוֹ נִשְׁתַּל הָעוֹלָם. וּמִקַּיִן בָּאוּ כָּל אוֹתָם חֲצוּפִים וּרְשָׁעִים וְרִשְׁעֵי הָעוֹלָם.

After this, they gave birth to their first son; he was a son of the serpent’s filth (impurity). Two came upon Eve, that is Adam and the serpent, and she conceived from them and gave birth to two, that is Cain and Abel. The first one went out according to the kind of the one who brought him forth, and one went out according to the kind of the one who brought him forth. And their spirit was separated: this one to the side of holiness and this one to the side of impurity. This one resembles his aspect, and this one resembles his aspect, that is the side from which they came out.
The meaning is that by this, that she listened to the counsel of the serpent, he cast his filth into her. And the filth of the serpent was mixed in the body of Eve, and afterward Adam came upon her, and it is considered that she conceived from both of them, from the filth of the serpent and from the holiness of Adam. And first Cain went out from her, who was mixed with the filth of the serpent. And afterward, when the filth had already gone out from Eve with the birth of Cain, Abel went out from her in the holiness of Adam.
Notes:
Eve conceived from a mixture of the serpent’s filth and Adam’s holiness. Cain came first from that mixture of impurity, and Abel came afterward from the remaining holiness of Adam. Their spirits were divided, one to impurity and one to holiness.

From the side of Cain come all the dwellings of the evil kinds and the spirits, the demons, and the sorcerers. From the side of Abel more mercy was drawn into the world, but not in completeness, like good wine mixed with bad wine, and the world was not corrected through him. Until Seth was born, and after him all the generations of the righteous of the world were traced, and through him the world was established. And from Cain came all the arrogant ones and the sinners and the wicked of the world.
Notes:
Cain’s side is the source of harmful and impure forces in the world. Abel brought some mercy, but it was mixed and incomplete. Only with Seth was the line of the righteous established and the world given a firm foundation.
