Zohar Beresheet
Continued from previous DZ
#467
Rabbi Chiya said, “Of the world” exactly they were, that is, they were fixed into a chariot for the Nukva, according to the words of Rabbi Yossi. And he adds to explain that from the lower world the Holy One, blessed be He, took them. That is, after they fell into the lower world, sparks were elevated from them. And these sparks were joined to the chariot of the Nukva. Which is not so with the first Nephilim; they had nothing from the lower world, for they were angels in heaven.
As it is written, “זְכֹר רַחֲמֶיךָ…” “Remember Your mercies…” (Psalms 25:6). It is certainly so, for from the lower world the Holy One, blessed be He, took them; that is, the mercies and the Chassadim, so that they would be a holy chariot above, and they are the first Fathers. For “Your mercies” is Jacob our father, and “Your Chassadim” is Abraham, who rose from the lower world and merited to be a chariot to Zeir Anpin and Nukva above, as it is said, “The Fathers are the chariot.” (And why he does not count Isaac our father, the Zohar explains in Parashat Shemini, #43.) So too here in the verse “they were the mighty ones who were of the world,” it is also that they were raised from the lower world and joined above in the chariot of Zeir Anpin and Nukva.
Rabbi Yitzchak said, “Of the world” that is in the verse “they were the mighty ones who were of the world” — this is the bed of Solomon, that is also the Nukva, but from the aspect of Gevurah, as it is written, “הִנֵּה מִטָּתוֹ שֶׁלִּשְׁלֹמֹה שִׁשִּׁים גִּבֹּרִים” “Behold the bed of Solomon, sixty mighty ones…” (Song of Songs 3:7). Rabbi Acha said, All of them, that is all the sixty mighty ones around the bed of Solomon, are called sons of God.
Notes:
“Of the world” means they were raised from below and joined to the chariot of the Nukva. This is like the patriarchs, who rose from the lower world to become the holy chariot. The sixty mighty ones around Solomon’s bed are the Nukva from the side of Gevurah, and they too are called sons of God.

This Friday is **Erev Rosh Hashanah**, a particularly meaningful time to give **Tzedakah**. As we prepare to stand before the Holy One, Blessed be He, and ask to be inscribed for a good and blessed year, we strengthen the qualities of kindness, mercy, and generosity in our own actions.
If you have not given Tzedakah recently, please consider making a [**Donation**] before Rosh Hashanah. Giving connects us to **Yessod**, also prepares and expands the vessel to receive the Light and blessings of Shabbat and the New Year.
**Your Tzedakah does not have to be given to the same place.** You may alternate or divide it among those who bring spiritual benefit into your life and those in need.
May the merit of Tzedakah help open the gates of mercy for all of us, and may we be inscribed and sealed for a year of life, health, peace, abundance, and closeness to Hashem.
