Tikkun 24 – 9
Rabbi Elazar asks in the Zohar : “Does the circumcision have equal value for everyone?”
The Snake was the cause of the first sin. The effect was, there became a physical skin that separated Adam and Eve from the Light. The circumcision corrects the sin by removing part of that skin, at the level of Yessod, which is the point of connection of the light to Malchut. This foreskin is buried in the ground where the Snake dwells and eats.
The Zohar’s explanation to Rabbi Elazar’s question teaches us that there are three types of connections. The wicked, the mediocre and the righteous.
For the wicked, that is a person with only selfish desires, the circumcision is a simple correction of the vessel done by delivering the foreskin back to the Snake.
Isaiah 65:25
“וְנָחָשׁ, עָפָר לַחְמוֹ ”
“and dust will be the serpent’s food”
The blood of the circumcision is the food of the minister of negativity, Sam-ael.
For the mediocre, בנוני, that is a person that balances his desires with acts of sharing, the circumcision is considered as bringing sacrifices to the altar. He enjoys the benefits of the light.
For the righteous, those with only sharing actions and consciousness, the circumcision is a direct connection to YHVH as it is said in Job 19:26 “וּמִבְּשָׂרִי, אֶחֱזֶה אֱלוֹהַּ.” “from my flesh I will see God”
The flesh and blood is just the vessel for the soul to use in drawing the light that was always available to us before the first sin.
Zechariah 9:11 “גַּם-אַתְּ בְּדַם-בְּרִיתֵךְ, שִׁלַּחְתִּי אֲסִירַיִךְ מִבּוֹר, אֵין מַיִם, בּוֹ”
“As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant (Circumcision) I send your prisoners out of the pit where there is no water.”
The circumcision creates opening for us to connect and channel the light. Without it, the soul is like a prisoner, trapped in a physical body. Mortality is brought about by the Snake and removing the foreskin brings the light to the process of “be fruitful and multiply”. It creates continuation in the world with the energy of life.
