Zohar Balak
Numbers 22:2
“וַיַּרְא בָּלָק, בֶּן-צִפּוֹר, אֵת כָּל-אֲשֶׁר-עָשָׂה יִשְׂרָאֵל, לָאֱמֹרִי.”
“And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.”
Zippor ,צִפּוֹר, means ‘bird’. The Zohar explains that Balak saw with eyes of wisdom. He was a great wizard and used to send a bird to spy on places. The bird would come back and reveal to him what was going on in the places.
One day the bird came back late and with burns signs on her wings. Balak saw that the birds lost the ability to connect him to the secrets of upper levels. He understood that the cause of it came from the Israelites and he became frightened.
Numbers 22:3
“וַיָּגָר מוֹאָב מִפְּנֵי הָעָם, מְאֹד–כִּי רַב-הוּא; וַיָּקָץ מוֹאָב, מִפְּנֵי בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל”
“And Moab was in great dread of the people, because they were many. Moab was overcome with fear of the people of Israel.”
When the bird lost its ability so was Balak. That fear drove him to seek means to disconnect the Israelites from their connection to Chokmah, wisdom.
We know from the story of Rabbi Shimon that he left the cave after 12 years with awesome power of Light. Everything that was not in the frame of holiness was burnt just by his look. His eyes projected pure energy that nothing on a lower level could bare and was immediately transformed to vapor and ashes using the element of fire that cleanse negativity.
Many people keep hanging to some form of physical idols. They help them feel secure in this world but nothing can stand pure Light.
What should we do to keep the Light with us at all times?
