Zohar Naso

The sages of the Talmud teach us (שבת י’ ע”ב) that God told Moses that he had a good gift in His treasure house and it’s called ‘Shabbat’ and He wanted to give it to the children of Israel.
The Zohar and Rabbi Ashlag in his commentary reveal to us that on Shabbat we receive high levels of Light into our souls that connect us to the YHVH name.

After Adam sinned and was casted away from the Garden of Eden he gave birth to impure souls. The children of Israel come from the pure sparks of souls originated from Adam and have the ability to connect to the upper sefirot.

The Shabbat, Torah with all of its precepts give us what we need to ascend to the upper three Sefirot and create spiritual causes that takes effect in the lower levels.

At the end of our prayers we acknowledge the gift we receive with the prayer of “Aleinu LeShabeach”
We praise the master of everything, the Creator, for not making us like the nations of the world, nor like the families of the earth, for he has not endowed us with a portion like theirs, nor destined like their multitudes. For they prostrate themselves before vanity and nothingness, but we bend our knees, bow and give thanks to the King of Kings, the Holy One, Blessed be He….He is truth and there’s nothing but him.

The Zohar reveals the secrets of the Torah, the spiritual system and the way to connect to it. Rabbi Ashlag in his book “The Gift of the Bible” tells us that only by following the Torah and precepts we can achieve the level of “Love your neighbor as (you love) yourself” because the love should be ‘as yourself’. Most people give love conditionally so they don’t fulfill the precepts of love everyone like yourself.

The sages said the Torah is all about “Love all as yourself “ because to come to this point you need to study the entire Torah. It’s not about smiling to strangers in the elevator or be kind to the people around your table. Imagine you are very hungry and before you start eating the little sandwich you manage to get, a stranger comes and asks for it because he’s also very hungry. There’s no other place to get food until the next day. Would you give him your sandwich?

Remember that offering part of your sandwich, small or large, is not “Like yourself” because your initial intention was to eat it all, every crumb of it.
It’s definitely not easy but if we follow the Zohar we make the best connection to the Torah and the Light that purifies our souls to the point of pure “love…as yourself”.
