111. וְשָׁנִינוּ בְּסִפְרוֹ שֶׁל רַב הַמְנוּנָא סָבָא, שֶׁהֲרֵי אוֹתוֹ כֹּחַ שֶׁהֻפְקַד עַל הָאִילָנוֹת הַלָּלוּ, כָּל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד מֵאֵלּוּ לֹא נוֹטֵל בְּרָכוֹת שֶׁל שִׂמְחָה לְמַעְלָה, אֶלָּא בַּזְּמַן הַזֶּה. וְהַשִּׂמְחָה שֶׁלָּהֶם כֻּלָּם לְמַעְלָה, וְשִׂמְחַת הָאִילָנוֹת הַלָּלוּ לְמַטָּה, כֻּלָּם בַּזְּמַן הַזֶּה הוּא. וְהַהִתְעוֹרְרוּת שֶׁלָּהֶם בְּאוֹתָם קְדוֹשֵׁי הַמֶּלֶךְ תְּלוּיִים. וּכְשֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל נוֹטְלִים אוֹתָם, הַכֹּל מִתְעוֹרֵר בַּזְּמַן הַזֶּה, וְהָעוֹלָם מִתְבָּרֵךְ (לִכְנֶסֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל מִתְבָּרֶכֶת) לְהוֹרִיק בְּרָכוֹת לָעוֹלָם.
112. כָּתוּב, (תהלים כט) קוֹל ה’ עַל הַמָּיִם אֵל הַכָּבוֹד. אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹסֵי, זֶה אַבְרָהָם. קוֹל ה’ בַּכֹּחַ – זֶה יִצְחָק. קוֹל ה’ בֶּהָדָר – זֶה יַעֲקֹב. קוֹל ה’ שֹׁבֵר אֲרָזִים – זֶה נֵצַח. קוֹל ה’ חֹצֵב לַהֲבוֹת אֵשׁ – זֶה הוֹד. קוֹל ה’ יָחִיל מִדְבָּר – זֶה צַדִּיק. קוֹל ה’ יְחוֹלֵל אַיָּלוֹת – זֶה צֶדֶק. וְכֻלָּם גְּדֵלִים עַל הַיָּם (הַמַּיִם) וְנִשְׁקִים בַּמַּיִם כְּדֵי לִגְדֹּל. זֶהוּ שֶׁכָּתוּב (בראשית ב) וְנָהָר יֹצֵא מֵעֵדֶן לְהַשְׁקוֹת אֶת הַגָּן. וְכָל אֵלֶּה מְעוֹרְרִים בְּרָכוֹת לָעוֹלָם מֵאוֹתָהּ הַהַשְׁקָאָה שֶׁכֻּלָּם מֻשְׁקִים.

When using the Lulav and its four species we awaken the light from Binah that is the aspect of water to flow down and nourish all lower levels. For that reason, the four species should be fresh and not dry so they can channel the water/blessings from Binah. The trees of myrtle, Willow and Palm are always fresh, summer or winter and the time of their joy is the seven days of Sukkot.

We learn in the book of Rav Hamnuna Sava that the force that was appointed over the trees of the four species is not activated to draw blessings on during the seven days of the holiday.
When the Israelites follow the precept of using and making the blessings on the Lulav, the special light of the holiday is awakened from the upper levels and nourishes this world.

Psalms 29:3
“קוֹל יְהוָה עַל הַמָּיִם אֵל הַכָּבוֹד הִרְעִים יְהוָה עַל מַיִם רַבִּים.”
“The voice of YHVH is over the waters; The God (אֵל) of glory thunders; YHVH is over many waters.”
This ‘voice’ of YHVH is Chessed.
Psalms 29 describes seven voices of YHVH. They represent the seven Sefirot from Chessed to Malchut. The seven sefirot receive their ‘water’ from the ‘sea’ that is Binah, which is the source that ‘irrigates’ this world with blessings.
Lesson;
We sing this Psalm when we return the Torah back into the ark after the Torah reading on Shabbat. The reading is done by calling seven men to make a blessing and read the Torah or let an experienced Torah reader read instead. The Torah portion is divided into seven readings to allow us to connect to the seven Sefirot and the Tree of Life. The song that we sing while the Torah goes back into the Ark adds another elevation and connects the entire congregation to the light of Binah and Zeir Anpin.
