Zohar Toldot

Continued from previous DZ
#91
The Zohar asks what is the meaning of “שָׂנְאָה נַפְשׁוֹ” “His soul hates” (Psalms 11:5), and how can we think that the holy one blessed be he, hates the wicked, when he has no aspect of ‘soul (Nefesh)’.
He explains that the level of Malchut that all souls depend on, hates the soul of the wicked because he doesn’t want to cling to her in this world and doesn’t want it in the world to come. For that reason, it is written, “the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates”.
Another explanation comes when we read (Amos 6:8) “נִשְׁבַּע אֲדֹנָי יֱהֹוִה בְּנַפְשׁוֹ”, “YHVH GOD has sworn by his soul”. According to that, the explanation is simple, meaning that the ‘soul’ of Hashem hates the wicked and those who love violence. From that, we understand that he ‘test the righteous’ because he loves him.

#92
When the holy one blessed be he created man, he ordered him not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge. It was to benefit him. He gave him wisdom and elevated him to the highest levels. When the man went down, he got connected to the evil inclination and forgot what he saw in the glory of his Creator at the supernal levels.

#93
Noah was “נֹחַ אִישׁ צַדִּיק תָּמִים” “Noah was a righteous man”. After we went down and saw a strong wine that was unclear and full of yeast, he drank from it and got drunk, as it is written;
Genesis 9:21
“וַיֵּשְׁתְּ מִן הַיַּיִן וַיִּשְׁכָּר וַיִּתְגַּל בְּתוֹךְ אָהֳלֹה.”
“Then he drank from the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.”

Lesson;
The holy one blessed be he, gives us the knowledge to overcome the negative side and better our lives. It is when we disconnect from the light and fall down, the negative side can have an influence on us and rob the light from us.
The pleasures of the physical world are strong and drive us far from the Light. They connect to the soul level of Nefesh and circulate in our blood. The Liver is the center of the soul level of Nefesh. Eating and drinking give us immediate pleasures because physical fulfillment compensates for lack of Light. When blood circulation stops, the soul departs from the body, leaving behind all the physical pleasures to be consumed by ‘agents’ of the other side that break down these pleasures into pure energy, which are the basic elements in nature.
All kinds of evil and wickedness come from the desire for the self alone that connects to the blood and contaminates and the soul level of Nefesh. This is the aspect of cause and effect that causes the soul to ‘hate’ the ‘wicked’ person that harms her with his negative actions and desires. When we read again the words “שָׂנְאָה נַפְשׁוֹ” “His soul hates” we understand who caused this hate.
