Daily Zohar 3899

Zohar Tzav

#147
We read above, “A righteous man knows the Nefesh of his animal” (Proverbs 12:10), and the Zohar continues to explain this aspect.
Genesis 1:26
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
“Fish of the sea” refers to the Neshama level of the soul, “birds of the air” refer to the Ruach, and “the cattle” refers to the Nefesh.
“all the earth” refers to the body that is an aspect of a small world.
The wise scholar rules them from the Right side of Chessed, and from the Left side, Gevurah, they fear him as we read in;
Genesis 9:2
“And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand.”
Lesson;
The man was created after the earth and all other living beings. God created man at the top of Creation with a soul that can speak and command everything below it.

The Holy One Blessed be He does not reward the righteous for his good deeds in this world. He doesn’t feed the three soul levels and the body of his animal part to make it poor, and as poor, the animal souls are considered dead.
Without the influence of the animal soul, the righteous have the Shechina always with him.
Lesson;
The body’s desires interfere with our spiritual elevation, and with the study of the Torah, we become ‘wise scholars’ and can have greater control over the body and starve its desires. Then we gain the support of the Shechina in this world.
We need to maintain the body in good health and nutrition to serve the soul and our tikun process, not to neglect our spiritual work for a temporary body. Science proved that starving the body (cells) prolongs life. We practice periodic fasting to tell the body “Who’s the boss,” and that leads us to a healthy life on the material and spiritual levels.
