Proverbs 12:10
“יוֹדֵעַ צַדִּיק נֶפֶשׁ בְּהֶמְתּוֹ וְרַחֲמֵי רְשָׁעִים אַכְזָרִי.”
“A righteous man regards the life of his animal, But the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”
This is said of a wise scholar, but there is no greater wise person as the priest that is Chessed, on the side of the South. It is said in the Talmud; Bava Batra 25 b:8

It means that one who wishes to become wise should cling to Chessed, which is the secret of the South. A person that acts with Chessed חסד is called חסיד Chassid. It is the name of Chessed with the letter Y י that represents Chokmah, Wisdom.
The sages said (Avot 2:5), a person without Wisdom cannot be a חסיד Chassid because Wisdom (Chokmah) is achieved in a state of maturity. When Zeir Anpin reaches maturity, he connects to and becomes Chokmah. A Chassid is called a ‘hero (Gibor, גבור) in the Torah’ because he achieved the level of Gevurah from the Torah. He fears sins because he has a connection to the H ה of Binah, which is the source of the five books of the Torah. He is connected to the letter Y י of the name from the side of Chokmah, Wisdom, and the H ה of Binah. At the maturity level of Zeir Anpin, Chessed and Gevurah become Chokmah and Binah.
If a person is ignorant, it is said that an ignorant person has no fear of sinning.

#146
He who has reached the level of Tiferet connects to the letter V ו of the Holy Name. He who achieved Chessed and Gevurah also earns Tiferet because Tiferet is in the center and included from Chessed and Gevurah that became Chokmah and Binah. He inherits Malchut of Tiferet that is on the center line. With that, he earns the four letters of the name YHVH יהו” ה that represent Chokmah, Binah, Tiferet (Z” A), and Malchut. With this connection, he merits the spelled name, יוד-הא-ואו-הא that represents the maturity of Zeir Anpin.
Achieving this level gives the wise scholar control over his body that is partnered with animal soul levels of Nefesh and Ruach. These levels drive all kinds of thoughts and desires of worldly vanities and cause the body to sin. The wise scholar can control them, meaning the animal soul levels.

Lesson;
In the same way, we have two sides to the Tree of Life, so it is with our body. The negative side of the body is called נפש בהמית, ‘animal Nefesh/soul.’ It also has the soul levels of Nefesh, Ruach, and Neshama. They control the body’s desires in this world, like a wild animal that desires to survive by forcefully taking everything it needs. The animal soul has a strong influence on the body and drives it to commit sins, but the Torah studies of the wise scholar give him control because Light always pushes away darkness.
